Crank or stick bait that dives 5 ft

What would be a good crank bait that would dive 5 ft. also what line to get it to dive that depth- I have problems with floating rapalas going out of tune so easily and then never properly diving any more.

I thought that a shallow diving shad rap would dive app. 7 ft. What pound test should i use so that it would dive 5 feet at the most so that i am not right on the bottom?

The line doesn't adjust the depth, reel slower or faster to get the wanted depth. I use 6lb test just as general use.

I would have to say I would go with a Bomber Long A. Maybe a J9 or J11 rap.

I fish the new DT series of Rapalas. Go with the DT 4's- will get just above those fish and entice them to bite.......WORKS EVERYTIME

I used Rapala's Tail Dancer cranks this past weekend.

(They dive to 6 foot depths) The smallies and northerns

eat em up. Sadly no walleyes were encountered!!

Same here, bomber long A. We have one thats Char/orange thats caught Smallies, lgmth, walleye, trout and salmon all on the same bait. They work everywhere.

Original Storm Thunderstick for stickbait. Bandit 100 series or 200 series for a crankbait, I can't remember which series dive to that depth but it says on the box how deep they dive. 14# test/6# diameter Fireline.

Regular rapalas are pretty easy to tune. Just take a pliers and bend slight in the opposite direction the lure keeps running to.

Also there's a big difference in casting depth verses trolling depth. And yes line does make a difference. Lighter lines will get the n deeper and superlines deeper yet. Also the amount of line let out while trolling will have an effect on depth.

Here are some cranks that will get you 4-6 ft while trolled depending on those factor mentioned. #7 & #8 shallow Shad rap, #5 deep shad rap, #4 glass shad rap, #4 jointed shad rap, #11 floating jointed rapala, #13 floating rapala, #8-12 husky jerk, Bomber long A, some of the floating rattln rogues, and thunderstick Jrs(reg. thunderstick 6+').
