We might have to explore this idea a little further later in the summer. I think there might be quite a bit of interest. That means I have to hurry up and start my little Otter Lodge project. Matt Johnson
I think something later this summer can certainly be worked out. Maybe have a cookout/BBQ somewhere and all meet for a day of BSin' and portable modifyin'. August would be a good time I think...Good Fishin,Matt Johnson
Dan Thiem
With this heat wave we have been experiencing, and all ths humidity, I really would like the ice fishing season to come. Sooner the better!
riverrat56
Grebe if we get that much snow, all you are gunna need to go fishing is a shovel and the auger and few rods, just start digging, make a big ol'snow fort and fish in that, the days of dragging the portable acrossed the lake are done with, I'm going light weight with my shovel
The Grebe
The wheels are getting ever closer! If all works according to the book of hoyle, I should be a mobile ice fishermen (When the time comes) by the end of this week, or next! Again, ! I don't know how many times early ice, I pulled my 4x8 portable from the parking area on the north side of Buffalo Lake, (Contact US Regarding This Word) near to the middle? Or on Mille Lacs, pulling all the gear a quarter mile out on the new ice! Heck with that! The kids gonna be stylin, come hard water this year! Big Paulie
Yep that's my next big buck item for this coming ice season.I'm done walking and pulling the portable and gear in tow behind me. This next season the kid and I are riding. Now to figure out if it's gonna be a Four Wheeler or Snow Mobile. I think I like the year round use of the Four Wheeler. Uncle Grump
Quote: you guys are insane. I know your just having fun but come on. I've never seen any hot mammas in bikinis walking around on the ice. Enjoy the season. Soft water, golf, bonfires, camping, a little stickball. you can keep your ice. TNFL Check this out..... Ok - ok - so she's not walking on the ice.... That BTW is my best LM to date, caught the day after Christmas in 1998. I prefer the ice. UG

wallydiver
I'm so pumped for winter! I even sold my Harley and will be buying a 2002 ZR500 next week. If you ask me, summer sucks. So far we've had nothing but wind/rain, then life sucking heat, then some more rain... oh, not to mention those blasted skeeters. I've come to the conlusion that I really don't like anything about summer. Oh well, only about 3 months until October.
ivegottabite
i've had the itch ever since the ice went off. the longest day has come and gone, so everyone knows that it will be getting colder soon
fishinrookie
You Know, when the jet skis and tubers come flying by while you are anchored fishing panfish with the kids and trying to teach them some understanding why their DAD fishes so much- it is just so much easier on the ice in a house to start them off fishing. There needs to be space for all to enjoy the lake. not enough enforcement on the 150 ft. rule during open water. just a little vent:)
The Grebe
Well, with all the huffing and puffing, I'm back to square one on the ice ride, 3 wheeler deal collapsed. If I'm going to ride on the ice this comming season, I'm going to have to go in a new direction....when all the smoke clears, unless I find the right deal, the only riding I will be doing is in my truck! Dan Thiem
Thanks for keeping the ice fishing forum going Grebe, if you ever get your arse down here for some hard water fishing, I'll make sure you won't have to walk.
Eric Wettschreck
Grebe, if ya ever wanna come out to beautiful (cough) SW MN we'll make sure you can ride in style out on the lake. Ice fishing is supposed to be relaxing, not work!!!

The Grebe
Dan T and Boilerguy....Thank you very much for the offer and I may just take you up on it come this winter, but, the kid is ridin in style! I checked out an ad in the paper, just on a humbug, and got a really nice Honda 200 3 wheeler today! New rewind, seat, 3 brand new tires, big suckers! The thing has been gone over and runs like a champ! The thing looks good to, I've been whipping up and down the street like a kid! We got the deal done in one morning, the dickering, the test run and all the questions, the sale, title transfer, licence, the whole enchilida and the other deal I was working on, for a much lesser machine, dragged on for over 2 months, with nothing happening except a bunch of talk! At any rate, I'm thankful it turned out the way it did, I got alot more machine, for less then what I was going to pay for the first one! I must have done something right? As soon as I get done with this post, I'm back out on that dude! I'll really be chomping for early ice now! Does'nt take much to make me happy!
