Monday Night Football...

Did you see Monday night football is moving off ABC and on to ESPN? Also Sunday night is going to NBC primetime???

This will be wierd and who will be the announcers on each game??? The Sunday crew is better than Monday, but Theisman has to go. Al Michaels is a loser though and he REALLY needs to go... I'm all for bringing back Melissa Stark too. Somewhere, anywhere, just PLEASE get that girl back on TV!!!!! grin.gif

I like Theisman as an announcer, he is a bit arrogant but the man says how he feels and has alot of decent insight! I know others that don't care for him and I understand why, I just think he's better than most of the Brett Favre suck up's that the networks throw at us. My vote for biggest announcer loser is: Randy "I love the 49ers" Cross. I do agree with the Melissa stark comment!! I think she wants to have my children. grin.gif

Okay I'll admit Joe Buck messed up when he crapped his pantyhose after the Moss mooning. But other than that gaffe he has been decent. However with that being said I don't like the sissy man any longer either! tongue.gif

Ya had to have seen this coming. ESPN did so many different things with the Sunday night game. The camera hanging over the field for one thing. ABC just did the same old junk. Had a couple of losers announcing the game, kissing Favres butt, and whipping off sentences only a PHD would understand. This is football for Gods sake. I don't want a lecture on politics from that little sawed off Dennis Miller while I'm watching football. I want to see fat guys dance in the endzone, hear announcers burp, watch cheerleaders.....yous guys know...man stuff.

I'm glad ESPN took the Monday night game. A little change, from time to time, is good for the soul. However, like my buddy Lawdog said, Thiesman has to go. Sure, he was a tough, good QB, but he's a crappy announcer. According to Thiesman no one out there can even lace up their cleats let alone play the game.

Plus, over a billion dollars will get ya the game.

An earlier point was right...ESPN and ABC are owned by the same parent company (Disney)...guess they decided that ESPN would be a better home for MNF. And local games will still be shown over local broadcast stations, so if you don't have cable, you will still be able to see your local team if they play on Monday...

As for the camera-over-the-field innovation...for those who don't remember, that was first done by the XFL (on NBC)...

I guess the main reason was that it was loosing money hand-over-fist on ABC. Because ABC could only charge X ammount of $$ for advertising spots it could not come out in the black.

By moving it to ESPN, and since ESPN is a cable only channel, ESPN can bump up their fee to the cable companies to offset the cost of production which ABC could not do because they are an over-the-air network.

ESPN can get away with this because there is not a cable company out there that will refuse to carry ESPN even if they raise their fees.

Very smart on Disney's part.

The fellas on the radio this morning were chatting aboot the no cable thing. They were saying MNF will be availiable, in limited areas, on ABC. Mostly in areas where there is no cable. I'll assume the metro areas will not be included, but outstate areas without cable may be.

I'm also assumeing KSTP will pick up Viking games that happen to fall on Monday nights as well. Much like the often times do for the Sunday night ESPN games now.

I'll willing to bet the limited areas is meant to say the local market of the two teams playing that night.
