tackle inventory

Just got done checking the soft plastics I removed from the boat last fall. I was carrying approximately 1900 pieces. This included everything from 4" worms to tubes, creature baits, senko baits etc...

Scary part is I figure another 5-600 pieces are necessary to replenish what I used last year, plus some new colors of old stand-bys. The large cardboard box full of plastic in the basement isn't included in the count. Although it would probably catch fish as good as it once did.

I also counted crankbaits that were in the boat, 183. Next is jigs, hooks, worm weights, miscellaneous tackle.

I don't even impulse buy that much any more, most of what I have in the boat is what I use. Guess it is just my small part in stimulating the economy.

what's the name of your store ? grin.gif ( i couldn't resist ! ) it's amazing what one accumulates isn't it ? i take all of the suff out of my boat in the fall when i winterize it and put it on a peg board wall and organize it all. note! i also take pictures of all of it each year as proof incase it gets stolen. to prove to the insurance that i really had all that stuff. del

Ray, I know the feeling... For the past 3 years each spring when I set the boat back up I go thru each box (cranks, spinnerbaits, jig,) and all my plastics. If I did not use it the prior year it is put into storage. And as you would guess, I lighten the load alot by doing this... but then a mysterious thing happens, by the end of the year I have more than I started with... go figure.

Same thing happens to me. I am planning on buying another tackle bag in the next weeks and I haven't even bought the lures to go in it yet......but I know they are right behind!!!! grin.gif

Hey how do you guys all your plastics organized? I am thinking of getting some of those tackle bags for plastics. Are these good? Are there better options out there? I know my buddy uses large ziploc bags which works pretty good.

ROFLMAO - how pathetic am I - I did the same thing (tackle inventory). I thought I was the only one who did this kind of thing but in my case I got tired of buying a lure only to discover that I already had one (if not several) of the same thing. I, too, took pictures of all my tackle and rods, reels as proof for insurance purposes....they make nice screensavers too....

After my recent trip to BPS, here is the new total:

219 cranks of various kinds and flavors including 77 Rapalas

I gave up on tackle trays for soft plastics for the most part and now use clear plastic shoe boxes from Walmart for about $1.50 each. I leave all the plastics in the original bags.

1 shoebox - Senko and senko-type baits

1 shoebox - Flukes, Assasin type soft jerkbaits

1 shoebox - French Fry/Centipede style baits

1 shoebox - Lizards and Creature baits

1 shoebox - Tubes

1 shoebox - Jig Trailers and Craws

This does not include a small tray of spinnerbait trailers, another of Zoom swimmin' chunks, a 3700 of plastic worms, another 3700 of grubs and jig heads, another small tray of dropshot plastics, and two small trays of jigworms, etc.

None of this includes hooks, sinkers, and other terminal tackle of that kind.

My plan is to keep buying tackle until I can say to my wife, "I need a bigger boat" LOL

He who dies with the most toys wins!

Bklimek, I store most of my plastics in utility boxes, like plano's or Falcon. I label each box (worms, frys, slugs)you get it. They stay in the center box of the ranger held in place by the tackle organizer bar. The bulk bags of worms, slugs (hundred count size) and such go in a small gym bag and finally I have a small heavy plastic wash tub that sits in the compartment that holds the loose bags of plastic and scents that I use most ofter or that day.

I too use the utility boxes to organise my plastics.

I am lucky enough to be sponsored by a plastic company so I get most of my plastics in 100 or 200 packs. I have a couple of storage dressors in my garadge that I keep organised with my bulk plastics. I then transfer as needed so that myboat has about 20 off each size and color.. which puts it about about 2000 pieces in my boat at any given time. I guess I have never counted. Like i said, I then have 1 box of just 5" tubes, 1 box of 4" tubes, 1 box of 4 inch worms.. Ect... to be honest I dont even know how may boxes I have. I just keep them all in my palls system in the Triton boat.. If I ever fish with others, I then can put the boxes I think I am going to use for that day in a soft side tackle box.

I dont dare try and count my crankbaits, I really dont want to know!

I think we all have one thing in common: we're all itching to bass fish so bad the best scratch is to rearrange and organize tackle. And to go buy more!!!!

You guys amaze me with the amount of tackle you carry or own. I am both impressed and jealous.

Just an idea: maybe some of you could post here when the garage sale is so that some of us won't have to take out a 2nd mortgage just to fill our boxes! lol

Good stuff...I'm off to the store to kiss another $100 goodbye, I've got to catch up to you guys!

Deitz, I would bet dollars to doughnuts(cops like doughnuts, so this is a serious bet for me) that when you have to switch boats(draw tourny or team tourny) your like me and just cringe, how much tackle, which tackle, which rods, which tools... and then putting it all back... I think there should be a law that only you and I always get to fish from our own boats, no matter what... Rick, could you see what you can do about that, preferably prior to opening....

I'm the same - I prefer to fish from my own boat. In previous years, I have used my Cabela's super magnum tackle bag ... It holds 12 3700 size plastic boxes and has room for soft plastics in side pockets. It's a little heavy and I started to get nervous that I was going to hurt myself since I'm starting to get old. When Galyan's put everything on sale, I purchased a smaller tackle bag to stock separately with everything I should need to fish aside from the tackle in my boat.

I now have more room to restock & put more stuff ...

It is a vicious cycle,

And tell me if it isn't TRUE... For all those guys/gal's that hate it when they have to leave their boat and fish out of someone else's. You pack every thing you think you will need into one LARGE tackle tote, take as many rods as you think you partner will allow in his boat... AND THE FIRST TIME YOU LOOK FOR SOMETHING, YOU DIDN'T PACK IT!!! AND HE DOESN'T HAVE IT....

Actually I dont have a huge problem decideing what I am going to bring in another boat.. My biggest problem is when the person I fish with drives the T-moter to fast in productive areas.. or too slow in unproductive areas....at times I get frustrated as a back boater.

Very few times have I found that fish would only hit a sertain bait and color!

I hear that, not to drift off the subject at hand but that one kills me too. That's why I take my boat about 99% of the time now. The worst is when you're dock fishing and the guy on the motor doesn't even slow down.

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
