msm1018
I went out to a local lake and put my car through the ice. luckily it was only part of the front. It was twisting my jeep by as much as half an inch, I couldn't get the back hatch closed because it was so twisted. I called my father, who was mad to say the least, had some tow-straps, pulled it right out with his truck. I am a very lucky kid!!!! BE CAREFUL!!!!!!!!!!!! andy j
My guess is it was probably Wild Rice Lake by the public access. I have heard this is a no-no area because of the current next to the dam. Glad you are ok.
Northlander
I was on Rice today and there are 2 open holes in front of the landing. If he was there it was before 10am. I didnt see anyone driving there or stuck. Rice lake is basically not drivable at the time. Way rutted up and slushy. BD110 had to push for 1/2 hour with 2 other guys to get his 4 wheeler out of the slush today.

The Grebe
Thats scary dump! I've put my truck through a couple of times, but it has always been in shallow water. I have been in a few incidents where you grit your teeth, pull in your neck, grip the wheel with two hands and hope you can keep the rooster tail going all the way to shore!I've been through the ice on foot a few times and it is bad stuff...as I have gotten older, I take less chances then what I used to...very scary stuff! efgh
noticed you said your dad was mad, I put my car in the lake in 16 ft. of water in 1957, my dad was mad too, couldn;t figger out if he was mad because I dropped in the car or that I got out ok.Glad every thing turned out ok. Northlander
Well msm must be worried about his hotspots more than safety of fellow fisherman so I will tell you he posted on the Duluth forum that it was Chub Lake by Carlton.
BRULEDRIFTER
i just dont understand?????? why would you not tell us where you fell through? its not like you have to say where on the lake you were fishing. tons of people fish the same lakes. everyone has their spots. why jepordize the safty of others? how old are you msm? i find it very disturbing that you have to be so hush, hush. abens1078
No kidding, I wanted ted to drive from Iowa to steal his secret dunking spot. It's hard to find a good place to drive a truck through the ice around here.

McGurk
Give the kid a break, how many of you have made a mistake and actually fessed up about it in an effort to help others not make the same mistake. I understand warning others about the specific lake, but none of us should trust any ice, any time. He posted it's location, move on. The next thing we'll be accusing him of unleashing his dog to pee on portables. My $.
abens1078
Now that the lake is posted it is almost a hilarious thread. No one else got hurt and you gotta love that hard core spot gaurding......You steal my spot, your truck goes down and you with it if you keep to many.MSM, you are 'born again hard' man. Lost
msm, you were asked where in this forum and then you posted in the Duluth area forum? I have never been to that forum. Think about it.What if I were to head up there and drive on the same lake you went through without ever visiting the Duluth forum (which I probably will never do). Thanks for the warning kid. What happened to common curtesy?

pikerliker
I'd say everybody needs to cut him some slack too. He could have kept this whole incident to himself and never posted it in the first place. The fact that he did at all says that he cares about others saftey. Personally with the wierd warm weather we've had this winter, if your so concerned about your families saftey then you should be careful regardless of what lake you go on. Not just the one spot on the one lake if you get my point. Somebody went through in southern MN on Lake Crystal south of Mankato with an ATV recently too. I think the kid was just trying to give everybody a heads up. ~piker
