Marcum magnifier cap???

I contacted Marcum last week about buying a magnifier cap. they informed me that they do not make one. I am just taking a poll to see who would purchase a cap from Marcum. Maybe if i get enough names or replies they would come out with one. they stated they would bring it up to the engineers, but who knows. Let me know if you guys would puchase one for your unit.

Several years ago I purchased a Vexilar magnifying cover and then received another one has a gift a week later. You can have either one of them. I thought it looked like a great idea but, the plastic lens scratches easy and distorts the view and it fogs up easy. I haven't used one after the first couple of weeks trying them. I would not recommend getting one.

I'm with Minnetonka on this one. I bought one when I bought my Vex and used it about twice and after that the only time it goes on is during transportation. It is so scatched up that you can't hardly see through it any more. The scratches came from the inside of the pro pack that the vex is in. I certainly wouldn't recommend spending the money on one.

I agree with last two post, the Vex magnifier is a piece of junk, first one I used glasses cleaner on and it completely clouded over, took it back and got a new one and two times out and it was scratched and disorted. I have to say this was not one of Vex's better ideas.

I will give it a big thumbs up for Marcum making a better cover but I can make do with the vex cover. I have used the vex mag cover for the last two seasons and love it other than I had to rig it on my Marcum. I drilled two small holes in the sides of the cover and screwed in eyelets than I attached a piece of small elastic cord(craft store) to the eyelets hasn`t come off unless I have removed it. I love the fact that it keep out the junk that can and will get in there.

I like the mag cover in certain situations. I agree that they scratch over a seasons use, but due to their inexpensiveness I buy a new one yearly.

For the clouding, I reverted to my hockey days in HS, used Suave shampoo to clean the lens, like I did with my mask for hockey, it won't cloud up after that.

I've had mine for several years now and it still looks great. Yes, it does have a few minor scratches but not to the point where it gets cloudy or un-readable. As far as the distortion, to me it just something you have to get used to, kind of like the passenger side mirror on a vehicle.

I have had mine for two years, one scratch on the lens, Like matt says clean with sualve shampoo, do not use glass cleaner, you can also get cleaner from snowmobile windsheild and helmet mft. Try carring a soft cloth in the vex bag and put it over the lens befoe zipping it up.

Beyond the use of the cover as a tool to keep sifting snow out I see no need for one. But..Eh...a heavy duty rubber band with a tightly stretched sheet of Saran Wrap will accomplish that too.

I am no fan of the distortion the covers produce and I wound up giving the one I had to a friend.

Snow in the dial kinda burns my keester so that was why I got the first one.

I'd be cautious of moisture that can well up while the cover is in place and left there for a long time. The constant heat up/cool down would most certainly generate enough condensation to creat some major headaches is left outside in the super cold and the moisture found it's way into the case itself. I think Ed has the right idea for keeping snow out if you need to, but that can come off in a blink and get put in a pocket or a ziplock for another use. If you are not seeing the screen clearly, maybe you need glasses.
