Chad711
Quote:If an on side kick isn't when you need a hands team then you never do. I would say Ottoman is the man with a clue.I can remember the Vikes winning a game on an onside kick with no time left on the clock. A Vike grabbed it on the bounce and never stopped until he was in the end zone. They came from three touch downs behind with 2 minutes to go to win that game. The Purple People Eaters had Heart and would never give up. You cant advance the ball on an onside kick, at least thats what I thought??? Unless your the recieving team.. fishyguy
Thank you Chad711. You beat me to it. What you need is somebody with the courage to stick their nose in there and jump on the ball. Running down the field is just excercise as it not a legal advancement of the ball.If you are receiving an onside kick you need hands. If you are kicking it you need luck. I will enjoy this small victory of discussion as I have a feeling it may be the only victory I get as a Vikes fan this week.
otto_man
clue this,i don't give a hoot about the kick, my point was stay on the field with your "team" and don't go walking off trying to get the camera aimed in your direction.you can have the best receiver in the league, i'll take walker and driver anyday of the week before that clown... muskybuck
You most definately can advance an on side kick. Once it goes ten yards it is a live ball just like a fumble or a kick off.
fishyguy
I didn't disagree he should have stayed on the field. He absolutely should have but I didn't think it would be accurate to portray him as refusing to go into the game which is what you did. If you want to make a point, make it. Don't add incorrect statements. That was all I was pointing out. Also, as far as kick off rules go, this is from the NFL web site.4. A kickoff is illegal unless it travels 10 yards OR is touched by the receiving team. Once the ball is touched by the receiving team or has gone 10 yards, it is a free ball. Receivers may recover and advance. Kicking team may recover but NOT advance UNLESS receiver had possession and lost the ball.
JHansel7
Otto- Driver and Walker, are you kidding, neither of those to morons ever get double and triple coveraged like Moss does, cause they arent deserving at all! Favre is the only reason those guys are worth anything, and Ahman Green, if the Vikings had a legitamate threat on the ground they would be a better team. Also could you imagine what Favre would do if he had moss, i'd hate to guess, the only reason you dont like moss is because you dont have him. Oh and by the way the "hands" team is the team that recovers the ball, not kicks it. Ugh. Packers Fans. i can see they have some real genius' over in Wisconsin! nolte
Give me a break on the moron comment. Driver has been very good the second half of the season and Walker is going to the Pro Bowl. Boy he must be terrible. The genius comment is a good one too. Everyone knows how completely different people from Wisconsin and Minnesota are. MJR
Is this the first playoff meeting of these two or what, I do not recall this ever happening. I sure would like to beat the Pack 3 times in one year, I bet you pack rubes are just licking your chops at this opportunity. I sure didn't give the pack a chance to be in this position what did they start 1-4 and I pretty much wrote them off. I will give them credit they did finish the season pretty strong. By the way Moss should have stayed on the field but when you lose 8 out of 10 to finish the season and still make the playoffs you probably deserve a little extra. fishyguy
MJR,It is the first playoff meeting. It surprised me a little bit when I heard that considering that these two teams are in the playoffs as much as most other franchises.
Down to Earth
I don't know if I'm quite rube status, but going into the game right now, though I predicted 34-31 Pack, I'm starting to think it will be more. Not to sound egotistical, but this is a game the Pack should win by double digits with the way things have transpired recently. They only thing that worries me is it is a division team and that the Vikings just seem to match up well against the Pack. With the Viking secondary being decimated even more with the Chaveous injury, unless the Packers commit a bunch of turnovers this game should not be close. I think the key for the Packers will be to get up early. If they do that I think the Vikings will lose it mentally and start thinking about next year. MJR
I agree if the pack scores 3 pts and to start the game and the vikes do not score on their next possession it is pretty much over.I hate to say it but I think the vikes will lose by 10+ but then again as soon as you give the vikes no chance they end up winning. genegodawa
You want to give the Vikes a chance?I'll give them 3 chances - slim, fat, and none.
MJR
Against the powerhouse packers who have dominated every game this season, your right the vikes have no chance. Keep on Drinking! The pack shouldn't even be playing in the wildcard they should go straight to the superbowl. What with the history and with BrINT Farve come on how could they loose? Bring on Philly! If the vikes loose Philly will get to 50 on the pack easy.
otto_man
come on now, the vikings have a good chance to beat the packers. they have the greatest receiver thats ever laced them up. he can carry the team all by himself, right off the field before the games even over!!! genegodawa
Well said Otto.MJR,You were the one ready to give up on your team in the first qtr down only 3-0.50 by Philly? Yeah, I remember my first beer too. What are you smoking?
MJR
I said if the pack scores first and we do not answer it is pretty much over, kinda like when the vikes play anyone. The vikes are terrible this year but what both of you are forgetting is that the pack is not much better. Pack have given up 33 passing tds this season, that is close to a record. Moss against the pack. 13 games 66 catches 1,243 yds 12 tds All of Lambert Field booing their team, Priceless! Prior to this year moss has better #'s than every other receiver that has ever played the game. I agree sounds like the greatest ever through 6 seasons to me. Last time the pack played philly they allowed 47pts and a lot of that against the packs starting defense and the philly jv offense. Ya I guess I was way off the packers are much better than philly. otto_man
mjrif you're going with numbers that would make favre the greatest qb ever to play? he's either got or going to set many records in the next couple years. come on, careful now!!! fishinphilth
If the pack wins they will have to play Atlanta and I don't see the pack beating them. So Philly is out of the question. But I also don't see the pack beating the Vikings. It is going to be an exciting game. You know the pack doesn't want to start the playoffs against a division rival. Even though the pack is a better team this year, it is a division game and it is going to be close. 38-31 Viks
Stratosman
The early line on the game has the Pack giving 6 to the Vikes, thats not much considering it's at Lambeau and the VIkes havn't won a playoff game on the road since '97 and abslolutely suck outdoors on the road and the pack has only lost one of the last 30 or so playoff games at home. That tells me that even Vegas isn't giving this one to the Pack. I think it's gonna be a close game, the packers can't take 3 games from us. I can't believe that we have never faced eachother in the playoffs before. It's gonna be fun.
Quickstrike
actually the pack couldn't win a game at home during the beginning of the season if their life depended on it, but things have sure changed with the season. i am a vikings fan but # 4 doesn't lose many games at Lambeau this time of year. it's gonna be a tough one for the purple. muskybuck
Once a kick off goes 10 yards it is a live ball. I can distinctly remember a vike grabbing one and running for a touchdown. I would not bet my truck on it, but I think thats the case.
