I've always been envious of people who have jobs where they take sabbaticals so I took one from here.  Frankly, it confirmed my theory on those who are allowed to do so, they aren't that important.  If you can take a sabbatical as a Math teacher to study Far East Studies in Cambodia for a year and come back and the building is still standing, unlike what you thought, you may want to reassess things.  I doubt those people do though.  It does seem there's a long chicken thread that started but I haven't read it.  Obviously it needs some hijacking.  How much can you do to a chicken?

Oh, were you gone for a while?

Good luck LeechLake! Unlike people that take sabbaticals, You certainly are very important to the continuity and good-natured fun of this page.  I'm not sure of all your ailments, but I went though a time in my early 30s where I had a strange sensation in my left leg - at least it started there.  For some reason, things just didn't seem right.  I couldn't put my finger on it but I got a gut feeling that something was wrong.  It wasn't pain, just a sensation - almost like a deep, mild, tickling feeling well within the muscle. Anyway, I fell victim to self diagnosis through things like Web MD - don't EVER do that, it will only drive you mad.  Anyway, i came close to having a nervous breakdown, even missed some work because I wasn't sleeping. Instead, I was up worrying. Finally (probably just to calm me down) my doctor said, let's MRI your head, neck, spine and lower back.  Of course they found nothing besides a little degenerative disk action, which was no surprise.  My diagnosis was that probably some minor physical incident that I couldn't even remember caused a little nerve trauma and it was slowly healing.  I was put on some temporary anti-anxiety meds, which I rather enjoyed.  They ensured I slept and I got my body back on track.  Also got a couple months of Theraputic Massage twice a week  - all on my insurance.  Not bad.  Turns out I had some major tension in my piriformis (butt muscle) and it was putting pressure on my sciatic nerve - likely causing these strange sensations. Within a few months, along with the therapy, it resolved itself.  And I realized I wasted the past few months of my life in pitiful, self-invented hell.

Moral of the story - the human body is a weird, complex and amazing thing.  Sometimes it just does things for no apparent reason and then you're normal again. How you handle that "unknown" period of what's going on is KEY.  If I would've handled it differently, I think I could've limited my misery - it was 95% psychological.  Sound's like you got a good attitude about it...Best of luck. Odds are you'll be fine!

So you got two months of theraputic butt massage, on the insurance company?  You da man..

That's what I was thinking too.  So did you completely disrobe for this?   There was some dialogue from a massage place awhile back that was pretty funny.  Maybe someone can remind us of that.  :D  Can't remember who it was.  May have been you Del.  Well glad that you are ok Thunder and LL good luck.  Yes our minds can get us in trouble if not kept in check.  I have had to reassess situations before too as to how I was looking at or handling it.  Step back, take a breath, and look at it from a different angle.  Always a good thing to do.

Got out in the boat with Sammy and Buddy yesterday twice.  First trolled a crankbait for awhile just for an excuse to go for a little boat ride.  Later in the afternoon I did some jigging with frozen shiner and caught some big uns.  Boated 2 27" eyes.  Had one up near the boat and lost it and had a few other bites.  Fun and was only out for a couple of hours.  Buddy is settling down a little more on each boat adventure.  He is actually sitting and laying down some now.  Introduced him to my other fishing brothers on the river yesterday.

Going to be another nice day today, maybe some storms later on.  Storms sound kind of fun too.  Knock on wood.  Hopefully nothing bad.  May have to get the camper opened up and have a few cocktails out there tonight.  So you know the drill if the trailer is rocking LL.  Don't come a knocking.   ;)  Still have to clean out the other camper our 5th wheel and get it ready for sale.  Nice camper too but we sure like our new one.

Well you guys have a great day and a great weekend too.

Took Belle to do some retrieving yesterday and we were going right across the street.  She knows that when I grab the dummy she can then run down the driveway and disregard the Invisible Fence.  The conditioned response phenomenon intrigues me.  She doesn't leave the yard unless the dummy comes out.  Problem yesterday, Mrs LL had put her E collar on and I didn't know it.  Dog hit the zone and started yelping, got confused and stayed in the zone running and then sat down in the zone.  The Invisible Fence collar gives a way bigger zap than the hunting E collar by a long ways.  Felt bad for her but it seemed to work like the "therapy" they gave in One Flew Over....she was pretty docile the rest of the day.

News flash!  The Twins suck.  The owners should tell them they're riding the bus for a while and I mean a bad old bus not some hi tech coach.  Buddy of mine played for the Twins about a dozen years ago.  It's funny to hear some of the stories.  A few players back then took their own plane to travel in at times.  What a joke.  The guys only making $5 million a year are stuck taking a charter and Tori Hunter would take his own jet.  Maybe a bus trip to Baltimore would help, it certainly wouldn't hurt.  I'm sure Smurf's brotherhood wouldn't allow it though, I'd say tough beans, we're taking the bus and remember to peee before we leave.

I need to get my Sportspersons license today.  I'm going to go at noon and clog up the whole operation at Holiday.  Since I limp a bit now people should cut me some slack....I've got my dads old handicap parking thing so maybe I will use that too.  I can make a day of it and buy some stamps and ask them some questions on trout stamps.  If I can find my Ron Popeil Pocket Fisherman I can keep it in my glove box in case I drive by a trout stream so I may need the stamp.  Casting a dry fly with a 6 inch fishing rod and 14 pound test from 1975 looks a little challenging but Ron said it works so it must.  Look for my grilled trout photo on the Food and Drink thread soon.  Have a good day.

Gee wiz, I have some catching up to do. Lindell,  I'm jealous your catching fish while most of us haven't even updated our license beside LL. LL,   Hope all goes well for you brother, hopefully it's just a minor bump in life that turns into nothing. Thunder,  great story,  back in my ball playing days had to have "Lisa" rub out my sciatic nerve a few times...ufda, dang good thing I love my wife. I miss those old car days dotch,  my buddy has a 32 ford coupe with a blown out 350 that just screams, my superbee back then usually gave him a run for a gear or two but usually I came limping in last..what a day, I took it off from work but finally got to sit down. Front yard detached , over seeded and fertilized.  Back yard, thanks to remi didn't need detaching but aerated,  fertilized seeded and seeded some more.  Been chasing sprinklers since 2..I need to go back to work to take a break..

Heading to the cabin in the morning, gonna be fun , the whipper snapper is driving me, while the wife is riding in the boys truck....should be fun.

Morning.  Moving a little slow today.  The wife made me party a little more than I am used to last night.  Windy as heck here yesterday.  The wind finally went down so we went for a little boat ride before dark.  Turned out to be a beautiful night.  Watched that movie Training Day with Denzel Washington.  Great movie.  Wanted to watch it in the camper but the wifi was a little slow for some reason.  Will have to try it again today after we get back from our shopping trip to Int. Falls.

I want my ashes to be split between the St. Croix where I used to have a houseboat, The Ottertail river that I used to live on, The Rainy where I live now, and The Rock River in Luverne where I first got my love of rivers.  I hope she doesn't pour them too fast or  the last one may not get any dust.  :P  OR maybe I should eat more to increase the volume of Barry Dust..;)

Ya i think he was the guy on the train and started the Hinkley fires.  Or not.  Sure had a good buffet there when I bear hunted there 20 years ago.  And a lot of hot party chicks at Grizzlies.  Man we had a good time there.  I even danced, and that doesn't happen often.

Our Tree Swallows showed up yesterday.  I have houses on the power poles facing the house.  Great little friendly birds.  We have a bluebird box down the drive that usually gets bluebirds too.  I used to have Peterson bluebird houses for the tree swallows but then read that they are way too small for the swallows and half of the babies die due to the overcrowding.  I made houses that are bigger for them last year and they seem to like them.

Well time for another cup of Joe and then shower time and off to the Falls.  Will probably have a nice meal there too.  OH NO the wife just told me about a 45 lb Daschound that was put on a diet with green beans as the only treat.  SO THERE all of you green beans phobia guys.  THEY ARE GOOD FOR YA!  How can you not like a green bean???

Later boys.
