Wisconsin Opener

Wisconsin opener is THIS Saturday. Who's going?  A full week before I get to start here in Minnesota. I'm jealous. Shoot straight all you cheeseheads

Cant wait!  doing the hunting laundry as we speak!  saturday looks perfect as far as openers go!  upper forties in the morning!!!!!

that is funny as I wasn't planning on hunting this weekend but by my Ron Shara's sportsman calendar has the MN opener this weekend..odd since the season doesn't open until next Saturday according to the Hunting regs!  dam calendar!!

I ordered my license yesterday, should be here by the weekend.  Not sure if my wife and kids will let me get out this weekend though...

Does it get much better then this!! Opening day, my son's first time bow hunting and we double up!! What a memory we will have!!

A small 8 pt buck came in on opening morning totally un-alert and presented me probably the cleanest quartering away, 10 yd chipshot I could ever dream of. I figure for a guy who hunts mainly public, has limited time, and no real confirmation of a bigger buck on any of the few "sleeper" public properties to hunt on, I should take the opportunity. And I'm very happy I did as he had a decent sized body and yet still very tender all around. Put my 20 yd pin low and tight on the shoulder for a heart shot, but ended up busting left lung and then slicing 2 big arteries where they attach to the heart. He made it out to about 50 or 60 yds and piled up with good blood leading all the way up to him in the thick stuff. He ate good on Sunday and should last until spring!!

 

Now I can be picky with my MN tag!!
