FA Thread....

Post your thoughts here....lots of moves made over the last few days. Who do the Vikes need to sign....

My thoughts:

LG Franklin OG Denver

And

Culliver CB Niners

Fills two huge holes....one on offense, one on defense. Spend the $$$$ Vikes!! It'll open the draft wide open!!

We have the $$$ to do this...let's get it done!!

I, too, would be thrilled if we picked up an OG and a CB or Safety in FA. I think we can find a decent WR or two in the draft along with a DE, LB and additional D back help. We inquired about Iuapti which would be great. Sounds like we were pretty quiet over the weekend, overall, though. I suppose a lot rests on the AP situation...

Vikes are looking at Clint Boling, and he seems interested in rejoining Zimmer. Could be a good fit, and probably not all that expensive. He's also versatile so if a stud guard becomes available in the future he would be good line depth.

We need to figure out the RB situation I think. Sure they resigned Asiata......but what that gets you like 2.2yards per carry. I don't know what's going to happen with AP but we need a contingency plan.

Also, I didn't see them sign a 2nd or 3rd string QB yet. Wait, they got Hill so whichever he will be we need another. How bout TJack? Possibly Matt Flynn?

Side note these Trades.....

Jimmy Graham to Seattle......WOW

The Sam Bradford / Nick Foles swap, the Rams got a heck of a lot for Bradford which was good for them.

Agree that 3rd string QB should come later in the draft. Cheap and you never know what you could end up with. Otherwise, we just end up rehashing MBT potential.

Must have for the vikes at this point are left guard, MLB, corner and #1 receiver. I know people are going to argue other positions as needs, but these have no one currently in the role on the roster. First round draft talent should fill one starting role. Probably either Waynes or Cooper, so that should address the #1 receiver or corner back. If they get lucky in the second round and pick up another starter, that leaves two open positions that free agency has not filled to this point. Hopefully Spielman has a plan. Could Peterson be dealt for LG and/or a MLB? We could rely on the thunder and lightning RB duo of Asiata and McKinnon. Well maybe at this point we should just consider them an afternoon rain shower...

^^^^Exactly^^^^, and I hear the Phins have already paid all but 3 million of his guaranteed money on that big contract.

Now lets hope Zim and Norv can keep him in check so he isn't being a big pout baby. Wallace can fly and take the top off the defense.

I wonder if we will keep all the other WR's? Rumors saying we might release Jennings or trade Patterson. I don't see either of them happening but never know these days.

They asked him to restructure and he refused...just as he did in GB. He's going to take a pay cut no matter where he goes now so why not just stay here? Easy cut after he refused....

Chadd Greenway...are you listening???

Looks like we are steadily adding some depth this month, couple of the new guys are past players and know Zims system well.

It appears we are adding a little bit of everything so the draft is wide open.

March 25, 2015 Agreed to terms with CB Terence Newman

March 24, 2015 Agreed to terms with LB Casey Matthews and S Taylor Mays.

March 19, 2015 Signed RB DuJuan Harris.

March 17, 2015 Re-signed OT Mike Harris.

March 14, 2015 Released WR Greg Jennings.

March 13, 2015 Traded for Mike Wallace.

March 12, 2015 Signed DT Tom Johnson and QB Shaun Hill. Agreed to terms with OL Joe Berger and LS Cullen Loeffler.

March 10, 2015 Re-signed RB Matt Asiata.

I'm sure they are trying to agree on money with Greenway right now. He definitely has to take another pay cut to stay, he has said he would, and they have said they want him to retire a Viking. Just looking for the amount they can both agree on.

He's not worth a lot when it comes to his play, he's always one step behind. He might also have to agree to take on a lesser role and become more of a rotational guy so we can get in some of the younger guys.

Yeah that new O-line guy we signed is a beast, be interesting to see how he can handle stiffer competition.

They have some videos with him mauling people but they are pretty weak compared to what he will be facing if he makes the team and becomes a starter. Here's an article with the vids.

Hey hey, speaking of the devil.

Greenway has taken a pay cut that will give Minnesota more than $3.2 million in salary cap relief, Field Yates of ESPN reports. Greenway’s new base salary is $3.4 million. He has $1 million guaranteed this year and can get $600,000 in incentives.
