hamms-scooter
Who here is using one of these on the ice? Or for camping season? I am looking at these for a back up or extra cooking source to the one on my popup camper. I also would like to use it on the ice in the winter. Which is the way to go, propane or get a dual fuel model? Which are you running? How is the run time on propane? and on Dual fuel?
sunniewally
I've used a coleman stove for 50 yrs for everything hunting fishing camping, used it with the white gas then bought a lp converter for it and never used the tank again. the lp is so much more convenient. did,t like to have to pump it up all the time. will be using it again this weekend, fishing and camping out on the lake!!! Same here. But you just don't get that good old white gas flavor mixed in with your morning eggs! If he wants his kids to experience real camping the way it was. LucasMN
I used a Coleman Triton Series 2 burner this year in the fish house.Worked great! We made over 6 meals on it (both burners) with a 1lb tank. I was really surprised how efficient it used the fuel. It says 1 hour on high will use 1 tank, but if you have it on high you're going to melt your pan metal pan because it's so hot, haha.http://www.walmart.com/ip/Coleman-Triton-Series-InstaStart-Two-Burner-Stove/28966572
dfv87
I have the "White gas" Coleman that I have had for 21+ yrs (got it for a wedding gift) and it still is great. My buddy has the propane one and I have to say I like that one better for ease and it is cleaner. No gas to pour etc and easier to have many 1lb tanks for lantern, buddy heater, auger, grill and stove. You can buy 3-4 tanks for the weekend and call I good. Use them for camping and ice fishing. Huge Fan here! We put a microwave in the fish house instead of a stove top because I liked the coleman so much.
Hawg
Look at the butane type cookers that restaurants use, easy to pack away and really work great. Much hotter and faster than propane.
BoxMN
I got a propane adapter for the coleman white gas stove I have. Haven't used it yet. It is the Stanford (?) brand that supposedly has a better variable flame adjustment, and was about $13. We shall see, but using the 1#ers will just be so much more handy for when I do use it. hamms-scooter
I am planning on the dual fuel stove and also going to buy the adapter in case I want propane. that way I get the well built stove and variety of fuel options. VS just propane and that flimsy stove
BLACKJACK
One of my favorite movie lines ever "love the smell of napalm in the morning", should go rent Apocalypse Now again.... I had a white gas stove for quite a few years, worked fine once you got it running but a lot of times you end up with a fuel fire, too much gas had come out, I'd be real hesitant to use it indoors. My bro-in-law recommended a LP gas one, it works great, screw on cylinder, turn on valve, light it, works every time!! Let me repeat, works EVERY time, no more dicking around trying to get a white gas stove lit. On a family campout it get used a lot for cooking coffee, heating water, cooking and over three days I've never used two one pound cylinders. LP all the way for me. Even if you gave me a white gas stove it would be on one of the auction sites tomorrow.
Tom7227
LP. You can't spill it all over and have the smell and fire danger you have with the white gas. You may even be able to hook it up to a 20lb tank and not have to fool around an entire season.
sunniewally
I hook mine up to a 11 lb tank if i go for a week or so and it works great
