fishnowworknever
I'm sure I'll get blasted for this by some...Gander Mountain and their Clam products are a little ridiculous. I don't usually shop there, but just browsing their online site for ice fishing gear...my god. It's like Clam is a sister company to GM or vice-verse.Clam DC plug-in adapterClam Ice ChiselClam shovelClam hang hooksClam ice bucketClam toilet paperClam emergency throw ropejust to name a fewInstead of making all of these clam products they should stick to focusing on their clam ice shacks and their quality. Maybe it's improved over the last couple years but the last clam portable I bought I sold the next season because it was falling apart at the seams. No way in hell I'm buying a Clam emergency throw rope.
LegattoAD
Odd. I just took a look and saw Otter, Eskimo (who now have a new quick release for my auger, yay!), Frabill, even Ameristep and I've never heard of them before now... Even in store, the selection is there. Are you sure you didn't inadvertently do a search by brand?
amateurfishing
.....or maybe they are trying to diversify to increase margins on accessories like any decent company does.I will admit I dont buy any of those over priced extras though, learned a lot from greart people at the Thorne Bros mod get together. fishnowworknever
I'm not saying that's ALL they sell, it's just funny how much gimmicky stuff they (Clam) have for sale and GM always has Clam items front and center on display over everything else. It just seems forced-in-your face compared to other places.I see GM now sells Striker brand, that's cool but probably overpriced.
BartmanMN
Anyone notice how thin the fabric is on non insulated houses these days? Whoa, nothing like the old clams.

fiskyknut
Oh no Clam toilet paper say it is'nt so. We already have auger wars, flasher wars, whats next TP wars. Clam vs. Scott vs. Charmin.Imagine the side by side comparisons and possible U tube videos... Some overbearing promotional staffer weighing the pros and cons will be telling us just how fast it is, or that you only need one handful and and it'll still leave a cleaner hole. Surely someone will say it's a must have for the hole hopper!Jiffy should jump on this maybe, a slogan like 'Jiffy for the Biffy', or 'Jiffy STX Stealth toilet paper it disappears on ice'.I guess I am too easily amused. All in fun as it could be the greatest thing since sliced bread!fiskyknut

Big Dave2
.....or maybe they are trying to diversify to increase margins on accessories like any decent company does. In the marketing world we call this brand extension and it works for some companies but historically it has buried other brands.

Hawg
I bet if we do have TP Wars one guy will not be pushing down too hard like the auger guy. I've also heard Clam TP won't reopen holes. This post could get ugly!

leechlake
the Clam insulated TP is my preference. We have it in all the bathrooms at home and you use only 1/5th of the amount as the uninsulated. I heard they are coming out with a washable tp too but it won't be out til the Ice Show. fishingmandan
Clam works closely not only with GM but also many other retailers in which they (clam) will offer to bring in pro staff memebers on several days throughout the season to help with customers. Not only with Clam products but to simply help. That is something very rare! I have not seen other reps from the other brands on the showroom floors working with customers week in and week out.As for quality there is no better brand that stands behind there products and has great customer service. Bar NONE.
fishing tech
I don't want anybody standing by if I am using Clam TP.

Bar NONE. Yes they bring in clam corp employees to help sell their product, do you honestly think they're telling customers to go down the otter or Frabil aisles? No, they sell their (clam) products, that's fine and dandy but they are by far NOT the best in customer service or quality.Look at the Clam Bigfoot zipper issues, the nanook sled issues and their cheap fold down seats. Many people complain about how cheaply made their standard canvases are and they're right. Now go look over at frabil or otter for example, those have some quality behind their work. No they don't have sales people at GM trying to tell you their product is the best on the market, because they don't have to. I've had clam products in the past and dealt with their customer service people many times, one too many times IMO. They couldn't get a simple replacement seat order right 3x's and I ended up having to go pick them up at their old warehouse, without reimbursing shipping costs. Great customer service there...top notch!
