Wild 2014/2015 Regular Season

Wasn't the best game in this stretch, but a Win is a Win. I really don't see what putting Veilliux in the lineup over Sutter brings. Not sure why that was done, but I am sure there was some reason for the madness.

He probably brings a bit more speed that Sutter, but otherwise not seeing a benefit.

Anyways, the roll continues. Dubnyk had some big saves again. That Bjugstad shot was just plain sick. He had like an inch window to shoot that through. Incredible.

It sure would be fun watching him in a Wild sweater.

We gained some ground on the Jets, Flames and Canucks last night so that is good. Still having 3 games in hand against the Jets comes in handy (pun intended).

I was rooting for LA to win in regulation last night, so that was good, but we have them breathing down our neck in competition for that 8th spot, which is why I say we have to shoot for the 7th spot because the Kings are going to be in this thing at the end.

Totally agree. It was the kind of shot I doubt Bjuggie could replicate if he tried it 99 more times. Dubnyk had the angle completely smothered, but even a 6'5" goalie could not quite cover it all.

We chose Grnalund over him. But, hindsight is 20/20 and Granlund still has lots of potential. Also, we took Dumba over Trouba. 20/20 hindsight there too.

I didn't get to watch the game, but it sounds like it was a bit of a snoozer. the 93X morning show brought up a Bob Kurtz quote to describe the game.

"There are 2600 games in an NHL season. This was one of them"

That's funny. It certainly wasn't a super exciting game to watch that is for sure.

What I think is really sad, with the roll this team is on there is NO ENERGY in the Xcel Energy Center. Come on fans, these guys are playing their guts out right now!

We need to start better chants like at the Gopher games. "Let's Go Wild" sounds more like a bunch of moms watching their mites play. Even "Go Wild Go" would be better, IMO. Getting a "Min Ne So Ta" chant would be awesome and easily implementable via the massive new scoreboard.

I was thinking the same about the Jets fans. The are supposedly the most crazy fans ever and they were on mute until late in the game. I believe fans in general are pretty knowledgeable and clearly know when they are at snooze fest. Not sure what we were suppose to get excited about last night. But a wins a win.

And dont get me going on Gopher sports games atmosphere.

I was at the game last night. The crowd was pretty quiet, but it was a pretty bland game. I did see for the first time Nordy with a Sieve sign. That chant got going pretty good for a little bit.

Everytime I hear the "one minute remaining in the period, one minute" I say THANK YOU, and everyone around me looks at me funny.

The bomb sSandella unleahsed that nearly took Luongo's life was an interesting moment. That slapshot needs to be on the #1 PP.

Well another big west coast road swing and big games against Vancouver and Calgary and a should win against eddy, not sure we can expect a sweep again but getting a couple wins should be good. Have to imagine the Canucks are sick of losing to us so I expect a hard fought game tonight.

We have basically went on a historic level run, I think 10-1-2 now and totally dug ourselved out of that whole we were in. Now its up to us to set the pace and pass teams within reach of a play off spot. Should be fun.

Man the standings are tight, basically 6 points between 5th and 10th. Colorado is likely toast and Dallas just lost Seguin for what could be a while so they might be in trouble too. Kings on a 4 game winning streak so that isn't good. Anything could happen but it might be down to 6 teams for 4 spots. I think we need to pass 2 of them to be safe, darn Kings scare me.

Yes but the tough part is 4 of those teams are in the Pacific. Those 4 teams aren't only fighting for a wild card spot like us, they are also going for the 2nd and 3rd place finish in the division. I really think we need to catch Winnipeg and overtake Winnipeg.

yep this is what I've been saying. We need to catch #7 because #8 will likely not be good enough.

Ouch, that loss really hurts. Slipped to 10th after all the teams we were chasing pulled off wins. Calgary down 3-0 comes back to win! Yikes, that one really stings.

Gotta pick up the ones against Calgary and then Edmonton. Need both to be regulation wins.

Not out of it yet, but its getting really tight with a bunch of teams condensed in a small space.

Ouch, bad night to lose. The good news is I think we might have found a good 3rd line, Nino Coyle and Schroeder have been looking good for a while now. Went to bed early last night, very much shocked calgary came back and won.

It would certainly be better. As long as we are in front of 2 teams from the western division we can still make it. (two of LA, SJ, V, C) Otherwise we need to be ahead of Winnipeg and one other team from the west. Not an easy task but plenty of time to fight our way in.

Speaking of Winnipeg...did you guys see that move Wheeler put on Fasth in the shootout and Fasth got injured and had to be pulled from the shootout...great goal by Wheeler!

For the wild it gets really tough down the stretch and if dubs comes back to earth it is gonna be too hard to make up ground...and we'll see what trades unfold...that could make things interesting too.

    • Aw, man, sorry to hear that.  Shed some tears and remember her well.  They all take a piece of our hearts with them; some more than others.
    • yes sorry for your loss..  our dogs are always special...
    • Truly sorry to hear that duffman! I know that feeling.  Keep the good memories
    • Chamois passed away this weekend a couple days short of her 13th bday. What a great dog to hang out with here at home and on distant adventures. Gonna miss ya big time my little big girl.
    • Sounds pretty sweet, alright. I will check them out, thanks.
    • If you really want to treat your wife (and yourself) with a remote operated trolling motor, the Minn Kota Ulterra is about easy as it gets.  Auto stow and deploy is pretty awesome.  You just have to turn the motor on when you go out and that the last time you have to touch it.   24V 80lb.  60 inch shaft is probably the right length for your boat.  They ain’t cheap - about $3k - but neither one of you would have to leave your seat to use it all day.
    • Wanderer, thanks for your reply. I do intend for it to be 24 volt, with a thrust of 70-80. Spot lock is a must (my wife is looking forward to not being the anchor person any more).  With my old boat we did quite a lot of pulling shad raps and hot n tots, using the trolling motor. Unlikely that we will fish in whitecaps, did plenty of that when I was younger. I also need a wireless remote, not going back to a foot pedal. We do a fair amount of bobber fishing. I don't think I will bother with a depth finder on the trolling motor. I am leaning toward moving my Garmin depth finder from my old boat to the new one, just because I am so used to it and it works well for me. I am 70 years old and kinda set in my ways...
    • Dang, new content and now answers.   First, congrats on the new boat!   My recommendation is to get the most thrust you can in 24V, assuming a boat that size isn’t running 36V.  80 might be tops?  I’m partial to MinnKota.     How do you plan to use the trolling motor is an important question too.     All weather or just nice weather?   Casting a lot or bait dragging?   Bobber or panfish fishing?   Spot lock?  Networked with depth finders?  What brand of depth finders?
