Big Dave2
Any loss to Indiana is a WHUPPIN'! What do you call a loss to Illinois? The same has also been said about a loss to the gophers for the last 50 years.

JBMasterAngler
Be that as it may, but the gophers are playing in the citrus bowl! The hoosiers are not!
CaptainMusky
How would you rate the bowl game where Bama lost to the gophers? That's been in the last 50 years big Dave.
JBMasterAngler
Should TCU and the gophers both win their bowl games, I'm thinking college game day here in Minnesota to kick off the season next year? One can hope!
Big Dave2
How would you rate the bowl game where Bama lost to the gophers? That's been in the last 50 years big Dave. How would i rate it? I'm not even sure what you're looking for but I'd rate it as lucky. That was the best period for gopher football in the last 50 or so years vs. About the worst period of Alabama football yet they were meeting in the same bowl game. Oh and by the way, Bama has won about 10 national championships in the last 50 years. How many for the gophers?
CaptainMusky
Lucky? I thought you said "any loss to the gophers in the last 50 years was a whuppin?"Alabama had the #2 defense and the gophers put up 287 yards rushing. Not 1 but 2 100 yard rushers when bama didn't give up 1 all season.

CaptainMusky
Clearly you talk out of both sides of your mouth and whatever suits your faulty logic.According to your original statement the bama loss was a whuppin cuz it happened in the last 50 years. Thanks for clearing it up.

You can have that, I'll take the 3 national championships Alabama has won since then.

Thanks for clearing it up. Of course it was a whooping. Who on earth could get beat by the Gophers and feel good about it. Not one team in the last 50 years has ever claimed a moral victory after getting beat by the rodents. Most every win the Gophers have had have been lucky except for the first 4 games each year against little sisters of the poor and school of the Blind. What I am trying to explain to you is that the Gopher Program was at it's highest point in 50 years around the time of that game, Alabama was at it's lowest. Do you honestly think Alabama cared at all about that game? Their program is set up to win national championships not win 4 meaningless games per year and hope to squeak out a few more against the other Big 10 bottom dwellers so you can reach your ultimate destination of Liberty Bowl or any other bowl that will have you.If you want to hang your hat on that game go ahead but that explains why so many were so excited about beating a similarly depleted Michigan team this year. Gophers are good at moral victories but that's all.

JBMasterAngler
Gophers actually had the 46th best non conference schedule. Alabama was 95th. Found another article before the season started that put the gophers as the 9th best non conference schedule, and Alabama with the 4th worst non conference schedule. Who's scheduling cupcakes? Canon Guy
I was going to zip through the game after coming home from a move. Guess I will just erase it.
hawgchaser
I'm not a Gopher fan, but they gave Mizzou all they wanted most of the game. It was worth my time to watch it.
schmitty3
A game they really should've won, which sounds funny when they lost by 16, but they just handed Mizzou that game. Stupid turnovers/mistakes cost them big time. Side note, I thought Leidner was a bad qb, i'm just glad we don't have Mauk.

Your kidding right??Other than the two INTs that MZ threw early it was a blowout. They outcoached us and outplayed us in every facet of the game. Buzz Kill and his staff should be ashamed of how they coached today. Completely unprepared on special teams, couldnt hardly dial up any QB pressure, and of course my favorite the good ole MN kneel down with 50 seconds left and 3 timeouts on the 40 yard line. [PoorWordUsage]??? Have some balls and try to win a meaningful game once. We are a running team and we throw the ball 33 times?? Get outgained on the ground 337 to 106?? We got dominated plain and simple. Maybe if this worthless team could have coached and played for an entire 60 mins it would have been close, but that is just too much to ask from a MN team. I take nothing positive from this season. We still blow goats and will never be more than a mid rate team that chokes at the slightest inkling of a big game.
