I have always liked the looks of the Golden Boy.

Have not decided on what caliber as I do not know what if anything I need but I love the looks of this gun.

Anyone have one and if so, how does it shoot and does it seem well built?

Thanks

I thought about one about 12 years ago but decided on the Winchester 9422 instead. Haven't regretted it, if you look you can find some nice used ones. JMO, but I know a lot of people like their Henrys and I'm sure one of them would serve you well.

The 9422 is the standard by which all other lever actions try to duplicate. The Henry's are nice but it's hard to beat a 9422. I'm glad I found a cherry used one after I found out that Winchester was moving their operations overseas. My dad has one (he has a GB too) and it was always my favorite growing up so I had to have one for my own. Nothing against Henry's, but the 9422 just has that "it" factor. Just a great gun. One of these days I'll probably look to add a Henry as well but the Browning BL-22 might come first.

Tom,

I get what you're saying. Just a downright cool gun those Henry's are. I've never shot one but have always heard great things about them. When I get one I suspect it will be the .44 so I can shoot a deer with it. I honestly don't use the .22s I have much as it is so I figure it would be a waste to get another.

I agree. I have all the caliber guns I will ever need so trying to decide the caliber is really tough. A .22 would be the least spendy to plink with so that is more than likely what I will go with.

A 44 would be cool, but I have enough high caliber rifles and some I do not use so to get another would be kind of a waste.

I bought a Golden Boy in 22 cal. 10- 12 years ago for when my son would turn 16. Well that day is today. I have it leaning up against the wall for when he walks into the room.(kind of like the Christmas Story if you ever seen it) I hope he likes it. I know I do, many times I wanted to take it out and shoot it.

Thanks for the replies, the problem lies in the availability of ammo. We shot up the last we had with the single shot in spring not knowing there would be none to be found now. I go looking for it a couple times a week for the last few weeks. Same story everywhere, as soon as we put it out its gone in minutes. So we will wait patiently.
