The New Straightcast Reel

Quite possibly one of the dumbest and unnecessary fishing related things I've ever seen.

What he fails to mention is that in order to perform as intended, you have to remember which way to flip it each time and also that every cast has to be equidistant to the last.

Nothing is new fellas. The basic concept here has been around for maybe 75 years and first came, as I recall either from France or Germany. Somebody found an old angling book and thought they'd dress it up and make it with modern materials and alter the basics a bit.

I think there is still a reel sold in Australia (and maybe other countries) that does more or less the same thing.

From what I could actually see of the machine it looked very vulnerable to mechanical troubles.

It will probably be advertised on late night TV in selected markets, probably in the south, because nobody in this part of the country is naive enough to buy one. Are they?

has good selling point being able to un twist line. they will need to do a lot of work to clean up design/user-friendly to make it some what popular. people bought the pocket fisherman, so if they can make affordable people will buy it too.
