your favorite crappie jig colors?

I've Tied Bucktail Jigs For Walleyes For Years And Decided I'm Going To Tie Up Some Smaller Flu Flu TypeJigs For Crappies. Just Looking For Ideas On Everyones Favorite Color Combos On Crappie Jigs.

Black head w/ yellow eyes or white head w/ black eyes. Red and chartreuse body. I use this combo 95% of the time. It has never failed. Different body's of water will call for different color patterns but this has hands down been the most consistent for me. I came about this from sitting over a massive school of crappies (100's) pre-spawn on a clearer lake and switched the tube/skirt up numerous times. Some color patterns would bring the fish up and they'd just stare, others the fish wouldn't move, this elicited a strike pretty much every time. Best outing ever, caught them up to 16", once in a lifetime situation and I learned a lot. This pattern has been my go to since that day.

So Juice.....Black Jighead With Both Red And Chartreuse On The Skirt? I'll Be Tying The Skirts With Bucktail. I Would Assume The Same Color Bucktail Wil Work Like A Tube.

Correct, both colors on the "tail/skirt" I'd go red on top, chartreuse on bottom if that's possible. Also varying weights, 1/16 and 1/32. 1/64 to me is too light. I know I know, what about the slow drop bite? You should be able to control the speed of drop well enough with those 2 sizes. Post some pics when you're finished. A couple with a little glitter would be nice as well.

I also like gold heads (not paint) but I don't know how difficult that is to come by if you got your own molds. Nor do I know the process, I haven't used anything other than lead but just buy the northland ones now.

I Buy Some Unpainted Heads And I Powder Coat Them. I Don't Have Gold.....Its Closer To Yellow. This Is Why I Posted This.....That Is A Color Combo I Would Have Never Made.

Well A Few Trial Jigs. These 1/32 Oz Are Harder To Tie With. And I Learned I Need To Put The Eye On AfterBaking The Jigs. When I Do Walleye Jigs For Fishing The Mississippi I Fish Them Very Aggressively So I Don't Put Eyes On The Jigs.....

Plain red hook with a white or glow plastic tail threaded on to it with a crappie minnow,I hand them out to everyone else in the boat after they realize they are getting outfished 10 to 1

I Hope so Moose. My Grand Father Who Introduced Me To Fishing Used These Small "Flu Flu" Type Jigs All The Time. Now That I Have Kids Who Like To Fish Its Time To Get Back To The Panfish More.

Try using calf tail instead of buck tail for smaller jigs. It worked better for me. White and pink did well many times.
