New Mobile License option

Perhaps that CO should read the news release that her dept issued.

http://news.dnr.state.mn.us/2013/07/29/minnesota-fishing-and-hunting-licenses-go-mobile/

Customers who purchase off the mobile site won’t receive a conventional paper license. Instead, they’ll receive a text message or email that serves as proof of a valid fish or game license to state conservation officers.

Once a customer purchases and receives mobile license information by text, email or both, he or she must be able to provide the email or text information to a DNR enforcement officer upon request as proof of a valid license.

......unless you do not receive a text or email. Anyone else have this happen? Am assuming my license status would be accessible to a CO? Would I still get a ticket without any "proof" other than the proverbial "my dog ate it".....even though they could kind of confirm my story?

I understand that and people can do whatever they want. I'm just saying that the whole reason I did this is so that I had one less thing to carry.

Based on that press release I know I'm covered so I don't plan on printing anything.

I never got the text either. Ended up printing it anyway to fatten the wallet with the other 15 licenses- which defeats the purpose. I'm not surprised some CO's aren't up on it.

Agreed. My wallet has enough stuff in it. I have the text on my phone which is good enough. If some of these CO's are not updated on current laws that is their problem not mine. For something as simple and important as checking someone's license I would have to think most of them have this figured out.

Since I am just that kind of guy....think I will not do anything about it and see what happens when I get checked. A CO would have to be a richard to give me a ticket, as there will be proof on their end when and how i got my license. Not my fault, they did not fulfill their side of the transaction, and for sure would not even give it a second thought to print a hardcopy if I had an email or text. Absolutely no way would you have to pay a ticket if you got a ticket for not having a printed copy.......

oh you might not have to print it and might not have to pay a fine but u can sure as heck bet that a CO can and possibly will make you waste time proving they are wrong rather then accepting joe public saying this is what ur department said...

This is precisely why I just printed mine out and stuffed it in my wallet. Plus, the battery life on my smartphone sucks and there are times its completely dead when I am on the ice. On the water I typically have my charger with me, but not as easy on the ice.

Plus I prefer to just avoid confrontation or hassle than have to be right. In a couple years we will not even look back, but for now I am going to err on the side of redundancy.

Yep, never said I was smart....just stubborn, and not worth my time to worry about. If I do have to waste my time to fight it...and they are just as stubborn, will also have to waste their time. They probably will have to waste their superior's time as well, and theorize all that time will not be worth spending over something that is insignificant, inevitable, and for sure would not stand up in court. With all the technology out there, just can't imagine they are not linked in to the data base. Similarly would think most CO's are not out to "getchya"....

Looking at the Web page dtro linked to in the first post it says very clearly...

Quote:
Print the confirmation of your purchase and/or print your license/pass/certificate.

Note: You cannot participate in the activity with the confirmation page.

You will be able to print and use most license/passes/certificates immediately; however, if your purchase cannot be printed because it requires a tag or sticker (i.e., deer, bear, turkey, shelter) you must wait for it to arrive in the mail before participating in the activity.r should be received by US postal mail within 5 to 10 business days from the date of your online purchase.Temporary vehicle and boat registration receipts can be printed and are valid for 21 days until you receive your registration documents by mail.If you fail to receive your tag, license or sticker within 10 days please contactAOHFMNWebmaster@ activenetwork.com

And then a the bottom of the page it says

Quote:
Please click here Test PDF Printing to verify that your browser is set up to print PDFs correctly before purchasing a license.

This shows me they want you to print the license

Sorry my mistake...

I have both the text and email on my phone from the DNR so I guess I'm good...

I also thought the idea of having it electronically "available) like on a phone for a copy was very odd. cause if that was the case, then anyone should be able to make a copy of their real printed ones just to have backups everywhere in case, though I did have to buy a replacement late last year and at 2.50 no big deal.
