leech~~
So, the tranny in my 2009 Saturn Vue with only 72,000 miles goes out! Ok, a week and a half to order a serta tranny and have it shipped in and installed. Well that's only one weekend of missing Ice fishing or going sleding! So, tranny is suppose to be there today and it was. Got home from work. Phone message: Sorry Mr, Leech`` they shipped us the WRONG Transmission and a new one will not be here until the middle of next week, we can give you 5 days of free car rental! WHAT, how do you order the wrong transmission or have shipped the wrong one on the other end? Like how many versions of a 6T70 tranny are there? Ser A & B? Both ends of this supply chain have the dam VIN # for petesake! So, after working a bunch of Sat's and having no SUV for a few weekends. I have yet to even drill a hole in the ice when I have had open weekends. I feel like just throwing my darn auger and gear in the trunk of this little Puzzy rental car and driving it out to the middle of Mill Lacs! highlife4me
Its a rental!! If I was in your shoes I think I would be taking a trip to LOW, maybe get it buried a few times too. Maybe they could put the other transmission in the rental when you are done with it!

Unfortunately, as long as people are involved there will occasionally be mistakes. Sucks, yeah, absolutely. May not even have been them, directly. If they have a third party involved, as is often the case, the third party could have put the wrong part in the package/marked the package incorrectly. There's a lot more involved than just Joe and Bob on the other end of the phone line. Use the rental as you need it. That's what it's for. However, I don't really support intentionally beating the snot out of it just because it's not yours. I've been on new machine deliveries where glass or something has been broken on transport. So, we pull out the stops to air freight in a new piece of glass, take it out of the box, it's the wrong part. Box is marked correctly, right part number for RH corner glass, but it's LH glass in the box. We don't make the glass, we don't package the glass. It comes from our supplier packaged to our spec. The supplier put the wrong glass in the box. Oops... Doesn't make me very happy, certainly doesn't make the dealer and the customer very happy, but it happens and reflects poorly. leech~~
Whoaru99, I work in the Mfg industry. Like I said, both sides of the supply chain had the Make, Model, Year, & Vehicle Registration number to work with. In todays technological world with product Barcodes, Batch and Lot Track numbers and scanner systems. I just can't see how someone could screw up picking the wrong 120lbs big heavy box! Rebuilt Serta transmissions are not mess produced, it's one at a time after hours of work. I'm sure Floyd at the end of rebuilding some thing with hundreds of parts he had to pick and assembly could hopefully get the right tag on the crate it would be stored and shipped in. MJ1657
Having been a parts/service manager at a car dealership for many years things happen. I wouldn't blast a dealership because someone or something made a mistake. The parts warehouses ship tens of thousands of parts each and every night and one part number is not any different then another.
Jeremy airjer W
Huh, that's nothing. You should see how long it takes to get the right parts for a rear sliding door on an Odessy from the Honda dealer. First time was the wrong side, second time was the wrong model option, third time was a winner. Only took a week and a half to get the customer back on the road. This has happened more than once but this was the first time for the second stike. We get the wrong parts from the dealer A LOT. Even with the vin! Scott K
A slip of the key while entering it, a messy hand writing, or someone not totally focused on their job. Happens a lot, in all companies. Some one could have had an accent on the other line. Chalk it up to **it happens.
leech~~
I will have to try some of these suggestions at work. Hey Boss, $H!& happens, get off my back! So the customer is paying $3,500 dollars for our services. What ever! I can see where this may actually work-once!
Ryan_V
Load up the rental and head to mille lacs. Use it as you would your own. But, I certainly would protect against spilling gas from the auger, etc, because you wouldn't want that in your car. I'll be on mille lacs this weekend, stop on by! leech~~
I wouldn't intently damage a rental car that I am liable for. Just kind of [PoorWordUsage] and frustrated with this whole situation. There's only so many weeks Walleye will be open left and I should have had 4-5 big lake trips under my belt by this time of the winter! 1968
this little Puzzy car Glass houses... Perhaps someone more important got yours. Heard of this sort of thing happening on high demand components. Too bad they can't source them locally. At least you got a rental!
nofishfisherman
Mistakes happen, always have always will. I'm guessing you've even made one or two yourself.I get the frustration but at some point you just have to accept that mistakes happen. At least they are taking care of you the best they can and offered you a free rental.Count yourself lucky if the biggest issue in your life right now is that you don't have an SUV for a couple weekends to haul your ice fishing gear around. These sort of things just aren't worth the energy that some people put into them.

leech~~
But wait it gets better. So I go to pick up my SUV on Friday and when I open the door I notice the hood release cable hanging down? No one said a thing, no note left. I pull it back in the dealers service area and show them the issue. They look at it and say they have to order the part can you come back Monday, sure. I go in there today after work drop it off and go sit in the waiting area. About 20mins later the service guy comes out and asked who the service guy I met with last Friday when I picked it up was? I said I’m really not sure why? He said, well they ordered a hood latch, not a hood release could you come back tomorrow? Sure! Auuug! Hey Dad, can I clam just a little bitty incompetence now after the second mis-orded part! Or do I still have to go with the hey, everyone makes a mistake deal still! Hopefully, but no. The wrong part occasionally ends up in the right box. All those bits of information they had makes ZERO difference if the part got mislabled or pulled from the wrong bin. The people building these parts likely are not the ones packaging them nor are the ones pulling the parts familiar with the gory details of every part for every order. It's a stock location and part number. That's it.

delcecchi
Well, Carson retired from Tonite show in 1992 or over 20 years ago. And if you had to be old enough to appreciate it... Well, it is surely a possibilty. I am way older than that and I didn't catch the Carnack reference.
