milkingman
Well I tried out the new clam bomb jig this morning and wasn"t very happy. Three times I put it down and each time I brought it up it was tangled around my line. (Treble hook). I was using a Thorne bros. quiver stick with 2lb mono. Not what I would expect from a 3.50 cent jig
mrpike1973
same thing for me my friend today. not impressed liked there other jigs
Corey Bechtold
Sorry to hear that. I have had similar problems with almost every other spoon I have ever used. One thing to possibly try is lowering the spoon slowly instead of dropping it too quickly on slack line?Keep us posted. Intel like this will only help others solve small issues like this and help Clam make better products.Good fishing,Corey Bechtold
Esox_Magnum
I use alot of different brands of spoons and maybe have this happen 1 out of 100 drops....Have not used the Clam ones...
milkingman
I did try lowering down slow the third and final time but had the same results. Ive tried many different lures with trebles and have had it happen a few times, but never three for three. I believe it was the jigging action that caused it. Oh well live and learn. DrJuice1980
What if the presentation that's working is that drop on slack line, it adds a nice "flutter."
castmaster
That was actually a concern I had just looking at them. It appears the split ring/hook is longer than the body of the "bomb". If that's the case it will get hung up more often than not.
DTro
Not sure how you call that a spoon and yes I agree, the size of the split ring is probably what is causing the issues.
anton67
lowering slowly?!? So much for "The Bomb" to get the lure to the fish faster. I bought a couple too but have yet to try them
milkingman
Let me know how they work when you try them. I am curious if you have the same results. Also that is why I bought one to get down to the fish faster in deeper depths.
Ray1
I have not tried them yet but the Clam blade spoons worked really well this weekend and never had that happen. Like everyone else said maybe its that split ring. Did you tie it direct to your line or did you have some type of quick snap or swivel also? milkingman
Didn't add anything . Direct tie.
CaptainMusky
Try replacing that split ring with a smaller one. See what happens. If it works send the folks at clam an invoice for you time and labor for research and development.
ozzie
they should stick to building portable houses!!
bobbymalone
the idea of using heavier lures to "get it down to the fish faster" cracks me up. Because fishing is high stakes enough and requires so much precision that saving two seconds by using depleted uranium lures makes a difference.I can name several good reasons for using something like a tungsten jig, but get it down faster doesn't make the list. EBass
Some lures catch fish while others catch fishermen. Sorry to hear that and thanks for the report.
Redlineracer12
Try setting up with a camera and see what's going on under the ice while you're jigging?
DjC05
Used the "Bomb" this weekend with good success. I really like the presentation and never had issue with tangle ups. Walleyes were the target species and the Bomb was tied on all weekend.Note: Was just using a minnow head. Balanced well
fish_eat_sleep
they should stick to building portable houses!! They don't build those right either. Cheap thread and gimmicky details. Anyone pay attention to the amount of rebadged stuff in their line up? Glad i didn't get stuck with another bombed attempt at something that coulda been good
Rick G
They don't build those right either. Cheap thread and gimmicky details. My 12yr old guide series house would suggest otherwise While I have worn out an Otter, broke a Frabill or two, and just plain hate my Eskimo, the Clam houses I own keep on going.... season after season
DjC05
Agree. My Winni edition from 5+ years ago is still going strong. Best house ive owned. Looking at the a new Thermal but will have a difficult time parting ways with Mr. Winni.
