Its time to sit Heater in the press box. Start rotating young guys in his spot until we find something that sticks. Heatley isn't helping us in any way on the ice, he'd be worth more to us collecting his paycheck in the press box.

For Backstrom my opinion is that its all mental for him. Harding taking the starting spot has him spinning, and now its either play good enough to keep the starting job or go back on the bench in his head.

I agree with the above comment about an enforcer. We need a Jon Scott back. We get beat up physically game in and game out.

we will come around.

Yeo needs to ride these guys, call some players out, get in their faces, and show some tough leadership. How he has let them get away from his preaching of strong D in all zones, tough forecheck, and speed up and down the ice is beyond me. We can't "out man" the competition we better be out hustling them all over the ice and it is not happening. Knowing Backs is in a big time slump you'd think they'd put in the extra effort to keep the shots to a minimum but good golly they seem sluggish at best. With 8 out of the next 11 games at home and 4 in a row starting tomorrow they better rack up some points quick or.......

I watched the condensed version of the game. Wow, different team between the front and back half of the game. How long until Yeo is fired?

The big question is if CF will go after Laviolette now or if he will put in an interim and wait to see for the summer. No way he holds onto Yeo until then at this pace. Seems like the best Yeo can do right now is go on a winning streak to keep his job until the season is over. No way he's coaching this team next year, regardless of what happens.

This team would be no different with Laviolette as the coach or any coach for that matter. It was a miracle that Yeo had them where they were and I still think they will sneak into the 8th spot in the playoffs.

This team is very similar to the NYI. We have one stud line and then a bunch of unproven younsters, 4 below avg D and a couple of players like Brodziak that just aren't that good.. The difference is that Harding has been the best goalie in the league..

I don't see them firing Yeo. We need stability and they know that the pieces to the puzzle are in place.

Good read and they make some solid points. Not my call but if it were me I let Yoe coach the rest of the season and see what happens. If we continue to swoon he's gone, if they turn it around I think he proves he can handle it. Despite our talent we have a lot young guys in big roles and that rarely leads to success in the NHL. Lots of time to right the ship here.

It seems Ownership/Mgmt from the top all the way down over estimated the abilities of the younguns to make the next step so all of them are on the hook for the downfall. Easiest move is to bring in a new coach and my guess is Liepold has too much invested and will force Fletch to fire Yeo tonight if they lose and very soon even if they win tonight but continue the overall slide. Sounds like they are trying to find another Vet to help out but not too much out there available. Parise would help but they were sliding even with him in the lineup. Sure would like them to figure it out and get back to winning and Yeo stay but if they don't I am in favor of a coaching change to see if that can get them into the playoffs, still 40 games left so there is time if they can get it together.

They were kind of forced to given the cap situation we were in, not being able to buy out Heatley hurts even more now since he is even worse than last year. I can't really say that the kids have been bad but I can't say they have been great either, just trying to find their way.

Something to think about, Mikko put up 21 points in 64 games as a 21 year old. Zach put up 32 in 82. No way to say who will do what in the future but their best years are right in front of us.

Glad they returned to their "A" game last night, was fun to watch; now they need to play that way again...and again....

Brodz goal was hilarious, caught his toe pick on his figure skates but gets credit for the goal even though he missed the net again!

    • yes sorry for your loss..  our dogs are always special...
    • Truly sorry to hear that duffman! I know that feeling.  Keep the good memories
    • Chamois passed away this weekend a couple days short of her 13th bday. What a great dog to hang out with here at home and on distant adventures. Gonna miss ya big time my little big girl.
    • Sounds pretty sweet, alright. I will check them out, thanks.
    • If you really want to treat your wife (and yourself) with a remote operated trolling motor, the Minn Kota Ulterra is about easy as it gets.  Auto stow and deploy is pretty awesome.  You just have to turn the motor on when you go out and that the last time you have to touch it.   24V 80lb.  60 inch shaft is probably the right length for your boat.  They ain’t cheap - about $3k - but neither one of you would have to leave your seat to use it all day.
    • Wanderer, thanks for your reply. I do intend for it to be 24 volt, with a thrust of 70-80. Spot lock is a must (my wife is looking forward to not being the anchor person any more).  With my old boat we did quite a lot of pulling shad raps and hot n tots, using the trolling motor. Unlikely that we will fish in whitecaps, did plenty of that when I was younger. I also need a wireless remote, not going back to a foot pedal. We do a fair amount of bobber fishing. I don't think I will bother with a depth finder on the trolling motor. I am leaning toward moving my Garmin depth finder from my old boat to the new one, just because I am so used to it and it works well for me. I am 70 years old and kinda set in my ways...
    • Dang, new content and now answers.   First, congrats on the new boat!   My recommendation is to get the most thrust you can in 24V, assuming a boat that size isn’t running 36V.  80 might be tops?  I’m partial to MinnKota.     How do you plan to use the trolling motor is an important question too.     All weather or just nice weather?   Casting a lot or bait dragging?   Bobber or panfish fishing?   Spot lock?  Networked with depth finders?  What brand of depth finders?
    • We have bought a new boat, which we will be picking up this spring. It is an Alumacraft Competitor 165 sport with a 90 horse Yamaha motor. I will be buying and installing a trolling motor,  wondering if I can get some recommendations on what pound thrust I will want for this boat?  Also, I will be selling my old boat, is there a good way to determine the value on an older boat ( mid-80's with a 75 horse 2-stroke  Mariner motor)  I will appreciate any help with these questions.
