Recommended Posts

I have a qouta tag an a non qouta an if I'm reading the regs rigbt I can fill both tags. It clearly stats 1bear In qouta an 1 bear in nonqouta. So both tags can be filled. Am I right? Ivenfled my no qouta tag last night with a respectable 250 big headed dry sow. Gona eat yum yum tonight. But nownwith cooler temps com ing the bear sre gona be feeding. Get ready boys it coming.

Look on the DNR HSOforum and there is an update in big red letters that was dated back in June, I believe, and it states only one bear per hunter per year. A buddy and I had a discussion on this while at bear camp and someone at the DNR messed up big time!! So instead of printing out all new regualtions they just made the change in the seperate bear regualtions and on the HSOforum.

Minnesota Hunting Regulations confusing? Really? Hard to believe. crazy

I read everything referenced above and I still can't tell for certain what the answer is, and I fear that a call to the DNR headquarters might not reveal the true answer either. This really shouldn't be THIS complicated.

I saw what you are talking about on page 4 of the bear regs before I went back to the main Hunting Regs book. The main Hunting Regs book included incorrect information when it was first released. The incorrect info has since been crossed out and corrected to read one bear per hunter state wide.

Page 4 of the Bear regs is poorly worded but I think it is trying to say you are allowed one bear regardless of hunting quota or non-quota.

I just emailed the DNR for clarification.

On the main regulation page at the DNR HSOforum here: http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/regulations/hunting/index.html

It says:

Updates as of 7/26/2013

Bear season - one bear per hunter statewide, p. 95

with a link to the full hunting regs here: http://files.dnr.state.mn.us/rlp/regulat...emode=bookmarks

The bear regs on the DNR HSOforum ( http://files.dnr.state.mn.us/recreation/hunting/bear/bear_regs.pdf ) in my opinion state that we are allowed one quota bear AND one no-quota bear.

Just heard back from the DNR. Here is their response:

Quote:
The bag limit is one with a quota (lottery) license and one with a no quota area license. It used to be one in a lottery and 2 in a no-quota area. It’s on page 4 of the bear regulations: http://files.dnr.state.mn.us/recreation/hunting/bear/bear_regs.pdf Thanks for bringing this to our attention. We’ll have it fixed soon.

I filled my quota tag opening night. I emailed the dnr roughly 5 days ago asking them if i can now buy a no quota tag and they said I can harvest one in the quota zone and one in the no quota zone.

I will be putting out a bait in the no quota zone tomorrow.
