That's what everyone is asking. With all the other sporting events going on tonight I don't know where it would be aired.

Maybe FS1 will remember their SPEEDTV roots and show it instead of another UFC program. smirk

Sounds like they docked the 50 points prior to the Chase re-seeding so Bowyer isn't directly affected, which is complete fertilizer as he was complicit in this fiasco. Hopefully Gordon will finish the job that NASCAR didn't.

After the 50 point deduction Newman had more points than Truex so Newman gets the last wild card spot.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Sept. 9, 2013) – NASCAR has issued penalties to Michael Waltrip Racing following the sanctioning body’s review of Saturday’s race at Richmond International Raceway.

MWR was found to have violated Section 12-4 (Actions detrimental to stock car racing). As a result, MWR’s three teams in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (No. 15, 55, 56) have been penalized with the loss of 50 championship driver and 50 championship owner points, respectively.

These point penalties are assessed following the season’s 26th regular season race and not after the seeding for the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup. Therefore, the point total for the No. 56 car driven by Martin Truex Jr. is reduced to 691, putting him in 17th position and eliminating him from the second Wild Card berth for the Chase field. Ryan Newman, driver of the No. 39 car, now moves up into the Chase as the second Wild Card participant.

NASCAR has also fined the MWR organization $300,000 and indefinitely suspended Ty Norris, MWR Executive Vice President/General Manager and spotter for the No. 55 car, for violating Section 12-4. The three crew chiefs – Brian Pattie (No. 15), Scott Miller (No. 55) and Chad Johnston (No. 56) – have all been placed on NASCAR probation until Dec. 31.

“Based upon our review of Saturday night’s race at Richmond, it is our determination that the MWR organization attempted to manipulate the outcome of the race,” said Robin Pemberton, NASCAR vice president of competition. “As the sport’s sanctioning body, it is our responsibility to ensure there is a fair and level playing field for all of our competitors and this action today reflects our commitment to that.”

Yeah, Nascar was in a big box and really think they had to do something. They did a decent job squirming out of it with the point docking. Guess it worked out close to how the end result would have been......well, Jeffry is out of the loop. Too bad because the last time he tried to crash bowyer was pretty painful to watch.....didnt it take like three times to finally get the job done? Pretty sure Newman would get it done in one smile

So much for thinking NASCAR has control of the situation...Helton said there wasn't conclusive evidence that Bowyer's spin was intentional.

They were oh so close too.

DERP.

At this point the only way to square the deal and send a message to the sport that this won't be tolerated is for NASCAR to tell SHR and HMS that they are allowed to declare a jihad on MWR for these last 10 races. Every car of MWR's should end up on a rollback, whether it be during practice or the race itself. Hopefully by the time Homestead comes around they won't have a car to enter into the race.
I like this plan better than Nascar's.

Pretty funny stuff right there, even my 10 year old son knew it was a con job at the end of the race. Glad to see MWR penalized, Truex out and Newman in.

I just watched the Bowyer interview he did with ESPN earlier today. Ricky Craven didn't offer any softballs, that's for sure. The studio host asked questions before Craven stepped in but Bowyer sidestepped every one of them. Bowyer looked like he wanted to be anywhere but in that studio. Because he was nervous? No. Because he's guilty.

I'm still baffled how NASCAR could levy the punishment it did with the evidence it had, yet couldn't say with certainty that his spin was on done on purpose.

Yeah I get that but he is one team as compared to all of MWR if they have handed down more severe penalties.

Its the most severe penalties in history BUT they still neglected to do anything about Edwards jumping the start. Its far from perfect but I think its close to right. Its not like they can just hand the win to Newman and let the chips fall where they may.

"The actions taken by Michael Waltrip's Racing team this past weekend leading to the penalties assessed by NASCAR, are very concerning. We are disappointed that a partner associated with our organization would make such a significant error in judgment. They all cheat, and all of them try to step over or push the line whenever they can as far as the rule book goes. Be it timing lines on pit lane, jumping the restart, you name it, they all do it.

The only real difference in this case is MWR is BAD AT IT

and thus they got caught.

I dont feel bad for them or thier drivers

I have a feeling this wont end well for MWR.

I agree about they "all cheat", but this is a completely different scenario than those examples. I mean, they basically had two thirds of their drivers intentionally tank for the benefit of 1 driver.

Maybe Jimmy was doing that too so Gordon could get in? LOL
