What was your most successful Bass set up last season?

The other night my son and I were rigging up some rods for the upcoming bass season. As we were deciding which baits we were going to rig up, we would reminisce about which ones we liked the best and why.

What set up were you most successful with last season? I know that it varies with the season or the lake your on, but overall, which seemed to be your most successful? (always have a rod rigged with it)

For my son it was a jig rigged with a pumpkin seed or black/blue baby brush hog on a Med baitcasting rod.

For me it was a skirted jig with a black/blue Havoc type bait on a med/heavy spinning rod. (which I now have set up on a new MH baitcasting rod/reel) grin

For me my bait of choice kind of went in phases.

My top overall bait was a D-Bomb.

After the D-Bomb i would say a 1/2 oz jig

After the jig I would say a 6" senko

My best bait in the fall was a rapala shad rap rs followed closely by a jig.

For smallies, best bait by far was 3.5" strike king tube in chameleon craw.

Went old school, Texas rigged 7" power worm in motor oil.

Love me some motor oil colored power worms, flat out killer.

For me it was a NorthStar 1/2oz New Gill Flip and Swim jig with a Havoc subwoofer in alabama craw.

Jig seems to always top my list. 3/8oz black and blue homemade with a saphire blue chigger craw

3/8oz black and blue seems to always be on one of my rods. Tipped with a sapphire blue paca chunk...I have caught lots of bass on this set up.

Hiya -

For LMB, a 5/8 oz Watermelon Northland Jungle Jig, with either a Chigger Craw or KVD Chunk, probably followed pretty closely by a Green Gizzard Strike King Silent Series 5.

For smallies - smoke 4" grub, followed by a green pumpkin/copper flake tube.

1/2 oz black blue FlaMinn Lures Jig with either a Christopherson trailer or an old fashion Uncle Josh pork frog. I really like the looks or a piece of pork on a jig and one last you all day, unless you get bit off.

Smallies = 3.5" white tube/black flake

Big Largemouth = 5/8oz ESOX Cobra jig with 8" Musky Tail Grubs

Was amazed at how many bass over 20 inches there are in my local lakes once I switched to smaller musky lures. Failed in trying to reduce the number of hammer handles I tied into, but increased the top end size big time. Ended the season with a 23 incher smile
