    Opening Day Weather

28° when I launched on a small lake south of Alex Saturday morning with 20+ MPH winds. But were the fish biting! This lake has sharp drops and I found most fish sitting in 10-12 FOW. Black T-tigged Senko with chartreuse dyed tip was the key. They just ate them up one after the other! I was the only one on the lake!!! Great opener!

    You've got to be kidding!!

We fished a tourney on Minnetonka some yrs ago, had a guy actually throw rocks at us from "his" shoreline because we we fishing around and under his dock. Luckily, it wasn't my boat and luckily I have gitten much nicer as i have aged. Yrs ago, i would have had a much more tragic reaction. Also had a guy on Crystal in Burnsville actually come down to his dock, sprayed us with a hose so we would not fish under his dock. Ya just have to laugh at them

    New Bass Boat Opinions

Ok, now 2 cents worth from a Phoenix guy. I have always been a Ranger owner, switched to Phoenix 3 yrs ago and love it. I like the ride much better that the Ranger. There is a dealer in southern MN and one in New Richmond WS. I would at least look at them.

    Bass Pro murdered

You misunderstood what I meant. Of course he won't use it for fishing, but it is great for selling at a pawn shop of to some shmuck at the lake standing there. It's the opportunity to take and sell, not use and enjoy.

It's actually a case of Haves and Have Not's. The Have Not's, would rather steal it from the Haves, not work for it like most of the rest of us fishermen. The opportunity was there, the Have Not tried to make the best of it with tragic results to the Have. I personally give away fishing equipment that I don't use. I go thru stuff every winter and give it away in the spring.

How many set ups do you own??

I keep 23 rods in my boat, all bait casters. No Fairy wands(spinning outfits). All rigged and ready to go with different baits, colors, lines and reel speeds.Depends on the day. I try to keep only 4-6 on the deck, but that can change instantly.

    Bass league scheduling etiquette

Once you get the DNR involved and making every small club get a permit, where does it stop? Maybe a family fishing tourney of 5 boats, gonna need a permit? When we lived on the lake, we had a lake association tourney once a year. 10 boats at the most. You all know as well as I do, once the DNR gets involved, the system goes down the crapper. I believe a permit is needed for 25 boats, unless you are in Hennipen County, then you need a permit for all club tourneys. A good way to regulate would lower the number from 25 boats to 10.

    was i to close?

If I pull into an area where I want to fish a shoreline and someone is in a little deeper water anchored, I will always ask them if it is Ok to go between them and the shore. I think you did the right thing for your situation.

    Cold front bass

Small, small, small! Fished in southern MN Saturday, wind was tough and rain sucked. Nothing over 14", everything on a paddle tailed jig worm worked very boringly slow on the deep edges. Did catch one monster dog fish, put up one hell of a fight!!

    Dock fishing etiquette

2 yrs ago, I was fishing Shields Lake in Faribault. As I was bring my boat into the dock to load it up, I saw a man and his young son set up on the dock, fishing pan fish. I gave them the benefit of the doubt, beached my boat far to one side, not to interrupt their fishing. I backed my trailer in at an angle, not to interfere with their fishing, loaded the boat quietly, not to interfere with their fishing, from a public boat dock. As I jumped from the boat to the back of my truck(because I was far enough away I could not reach the boat dock), I slipped, fell in the water, knocked myself unconscious. As I came to, another boater had run over to pull me out of the water and help me. I had actually broken my leg and had a severe concussion. But as all this was going on, the fisherman that was so kindly sitting on a public dock, fishing with his 10 year old son, got up, packed up and left, walking right past me as I was still getting help to my truck. No words, no concern. So here is my point. If this was a public fishing pier, then what I did would have been just plain old Minnesota nice. With that being said, I am not so Minnesota nice any more. If you are fishing on a boat launch dock, I am not going to go out of my way to be nice to you. It is a boat dock, not a fishing pier.

    Rod Repair

This was a 7 blank. it broke between the reel seat and the end. When it broke, it was real ragged break. I did clean it up, and actually put a pc of PVC over the broken end, and yes, it looks like hell with tape, but it still is usable, but would like to know of a better wat to fix it.
