The graining on that flat head looks nice. Have you considered just painting the fine and treating the rest of it unclear coat? Just tossing it out there.

now that i put on the clear coat to give it that final touch the red paint that is on it almost sparkles took 20+ hrs to carve and everything but very worth it.... it'll be quite the pike killer

caught a northern with a big bullhead in his stomach so I had to get in on the bullhead/catfish craze, though I couldn't help giving it a not so real paint job, and a few others I've had fun making.

I don't know exactly when or why we all started calling his decoys dorkfish but the name kind of stuck with his carving.

Well my dad came up with the idea to call it a dorkfish because of the colors that I liked to use looked rather obnoxious. And my grandpa liked to watch the blue collar guys on comedy channel and had a lot of bill engvalls stand up CDs one being about a dorkfish and there you have it DORKFISH

Not exactly roll, kinda flop around a little. Enough movement to be worth the effort and give me the look I was lookin for. They also add a little noise component. I have done a few with glass taxidermy eyes and glue on lure eyes, but I like the googles better.
