I know I've said it before, but I'm just amazed at how good some of you guys can carve and paint decoys. Absolutely amazing, and most are self taught.

I may not be a medical doctor, a symphony cellist, fluent in a second language, a talented decoy carver, etc. etc. but when I see people that have honed a talent to such a high degree, I can appreciate it. Great job all.

Rather than start a new post every time I figured I would just keep this thread going. Not sure what everyone else did this weekend but here are some that I worked up. Still trying to play with realizm...

The Crappie didn't turn out quite the way I imagined it, and I will admit I have never seen a young of the year crappie in shallow waters. But it was fun to make.

I went with the sparkle eyes on this one instead of the google eyes. They just seemed to fit better.

The Carp was just plain fun. I couldn't help but giggle when I was putting on the clear coat. I left it subtle. It does have a rattle in it and a fairly significant amount of lead to get it to swim. To be honest the google eyes make enough noise I could have skipped the rattle chamber.

A nice light soft yellow base and marigold over olive brushed scales. 8.5" nose to tail...

Looks great NG ,but don't let the bowfishing guys see that carp. grin

I have to admit Gordy. The little voice in my head cried out "Shoot it!!!" When I saw it swim in the hot tub.

On lakes with a lot of carp it may work well. Moves a lot of water and they stop being a prey soar w when they get much bigger.
