ASH RIVER/KABETOGAMA AREA

1/29/2013: Now we are talking!!!!!!!!!!!! Another 6 to 8 inches of snow last night. Groomers will be running this week and weekend as the snowmobile season heats up in Voyageur Country. It's time, come and get it! All on-land trails are now groomed and open. With the snow last night it should top us up and get the trails in top condition. Park trails are marked and safe and some saftey portages between lakes are groomed. Trails are in good to excellent condition. More info from Park on Thursday. Will be really good!

INTERNATIONAL FALLS AREA - thanks to Int'l Voyageurs Snowmobile Club

1/29/2013: I'll make this short and sweet WE GOT MORE SNOW. We received 6.5" of new snow overnight (Monday) on top of the 5" we got last weekend! Rest assured our groomers will be out making sure things are the best they can be. With the best groomed trails and awesome lake riding, load up the machines and head to the I Falls area. You"ll love it.

Planning a quick ride Friday from Walker to Park Rapids does anybody have any current status of there trails, good, bad, and how scenic are the trials between the two towns since I've never ridden that area?

I'll post this in the Leech Lake forum too.

thx

Hey Leech/MNUser,

Well looks like I'm finally heading north but not until I get hockey out of the way Saturday afternoon. Hope to be riding from Walker down to Nevis over to PR Saturday and most of Sunday. Sorry our plans didn't work out last weekend but if you're going to be in the general area between Walker and PR shoot me a PM and maybe we could meet for supper Saturday night? I'll have two other riders Saturday and possibly a third on Sunday so I don't think I could coordinate this one with you since I didn't organize this trip but I hope we can get together on the next snow storm....in Brainerd!!!ha ha

Sticking with topic I'll post report and even pictures if I can figure out how to post via Iphone without flipping the images on the post.

DTRO how far did you guys go? Looking for some decent riding this saturday, was planning on heading north, but if the trails down there are okay maybe we can ride the river valley. I enjoy the ride from chaska down to belle plain

was in great shape today. Just got back. Put on about 40 miles from Jordan to Shakopee

a little beat up and I've seen about 10 sleds leave my area here after work the past 15 min to head down there so it might not last long. We could use a little more snow, but its good so far.

I had to turn them off they were so hot today.

While it looks like she doesn't have any on, they are pink/flesh colored and plenty warm. smile

Heading up saturday and dumping sleds at Dos Harbors lot and heading up the NSST, then to the Trestle for lunch. Then gonna head NW and back on either the Sawtooth or the Yukon. Leaning to the Sawtooth so we can jump on the Moose Walk trails north of Finland and play on those and maybe some forest roads nearby. Then run back down to Dos Harbors parking lot.

Will give a report when we return. If anyone is up this week, let me konw what you found....I'm guessing it should be pretty decent.

Next weekend looking at doing a Peyquawon to Ely and back trip. If anyone is up there a trial report would be appreciated!!

I rode around the Farmington Lakeville area after work yesterday. Put on about 50 miles or so. No groomers out yet. Trails were great in some areas but a little bumpy still in the corn fields. Was great to get out again. Put a smile on my face for sure. I was beginning to question why I own a sled there for a while. Lets hope we get some more snow this weekend and keep those temps down.

I'll be headed up the Gunflint next week. Can't wait.
