I've had a jiffy model 30 for over 9yrs now. I've abused the hell outta it. I've only Used ethanol fuel with any two cycle oil I found. i never summerized it, just left whatever was in the gas tank at the end of winter in it until the next winter. Well I got it out today after a few pulls she's popping better then ever.

Thank you jiffy for the indestructible model 30. I will be using it with my children has they grow up.

I picked up an old model 30 (1985 or 86) for free off of someone here on the forums. He put it away with gas in it several years ago and hadn't used it in 5 years.

I brought it home replaced a cracked fuel line, put some new gas with seafoam in it and the dang thing fired right up. I did a few minor carb adjustments and its running like new again. I probably put under $20 into the thing and that included a new gas can to hold the oil/gas mix and a new bottle of oil.

My model 30 ran like a champ too, but I've got a bum shoulder and hole hopping became too much like work. I got a Nils machine last year for Xmas, and the little I got to use it with the lousy winter it was great. But those Jiffy's just keep running and running.

I don't think they ever actualy wear out grin. I have one somewhere in storage just incase my main auger and my back up auger fail. I know it's been 6-7yrs since I last saw it but I'm sure if I needed it the beast would still run like a champ wink

Bought mine in 1988. I finally had to put a kit in the carb last fall. I've done nothing but abuse the thing. Last March I took it out of the truck and hung it in the garage and I'm sure it will start on the third or fourth pull this fall. It's like my old watch. It takes a kickin and keeps on tickin. Or poppin.

I've had mine since the early 90's. I haven't used it in the past five years, but still held onto it in case I need a back up. I finally decided to sell it this week. I pulled it out of the attic, put fresh gas in it, pressed the primer 5 times and it fired up on the second pull. A small tear started to well up in my eye. I have many memories with that auger. I can't believe I'm going to sell it. They are indestructible.

I should add that my Jiffy machine was stolen out of my buddy's garage last winter. He had the cutting head off to fix a broken weld, and overnight someone stoled the machine and auger. So if someone sees a yellow Jiffy 30 for sale without a cutting head, it's probably mine.

I have two of them right now, one I personally bought in 1989 that I re-fitted with a 6" drill and another that I got from a friend in return for tuning up his "Arctic Blast" 50cc Jiffy. The Tecumseh motor and it's dead simple diaphragm carb just keep working. If they ever do plug up, the carb takes maybe a half hour clean up and then they just run and run and run.

My Model 30 with the 6" drill is lighter and easier to use than the one with the 8" drill and I really like it. If I want a larger hole, say for tip-ups, I just drill two holes side by side then grind out the web with the drill and I have a 6" X 12" hole in the ice!

about 10yrs ago she bought a brand new auger not cause she needed one but cause i think she just wanted one and myself and my dad didnt ice fish much at all but neather one of us had a auger so we would borrow hers when we would witch was only about 5 time in a 10 yr span so last yr when i relized i loved to ice fish so i went out and bought a portable and a locator and decided it was time for me to buy my own auger i was gonna buy a new propane one but kinda felt bad that i got to use my grandmas when ever i wanted to free of charge so rather than do that i bought hers from her i didnt know dump about ice augers heck i still dont but i guess grandma knew what a good auger was so far no issues with the ol 30

I hear ya Brother! Mine lasted longer than than my shoulders did. I bought mine when I was in about 9th Grade. I am now 37. I ended up selling it last season cause I could not wear it out and my shoulders would kill me by the end of the day of drilling. Because of that and only that, I bought a strike lite 2. There is no way it will last as long as my jiffy. I will baby the hell out of it and see what happens. Itis about half the weight and drills just about as fast so I am liking that!

the old Jiffy is definately bullet proof, I lightened mine by replacing the orig .auger and blades with a 6" lazer light and fast now. tecumseh made the engines for these and are now out of business, save and buy all parts you can when avail. this same engine is on many of the very small rototillers that were avail several years ago,and it is usually the gears in the tiller head that goes and the engines are fine buy them when avail.
