Does deer urine go bad?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, sorry if this has been posted here before...but I dont go on the hunting threads a lot.

I always have some deer urine in the little bottles left over from the year before.

Does it go bad? would it be Ok to reuse this year? I know its only like 7 bucks or so a bottle - but just wondering?

Thanks!

Hoffer

Doesn't deer urine go bad in nature? laugh As in when a deer pees on the ground, it doesn't stay fresh for very long. I would use it. I dont think it will hurt. Will just smell old as in that big buck peed awhile ago there. Read an article in F&S where a guy figured why not use a year old bottle and a big buck stopped just long enough to investigage and become a trophy. As the article concluded something along the lines of "And he proved year old deer pee can work."

Id' say sure, go fill a gallon jug yourself take a whiff if you dare, leave it for a year then take a whiff if it hasn't corroded the plastic, you'll likely be on your hands and knees heaving lol. I don't use that overpriced rip off, I like on a snowy year which has been a rarity, to step and rub around the real deal though, tear a balsam fir branch off and use it for masking scent, save your money, buy beer with it.
