nofishfisherman
Rodgers has the same problem some how he can still get it down te field When you throw the ball as much as Rodgers does you're bound to take more sacks. He also has significantly better receivers to work with so when he does have time he has people who can get open. If you noticed this week Rodgers had a hard time getting the ball down field, oddly enough it happened when he was missing his top two WR's. schmitty3
Also gotta remember Harvin's gonna be due some big money next year. Bowe doesn't come cheap.
LMITOUT
Come on, that ones too easy to answer LIMTOUT. You're smarter than that, if you're going to keep on with the negativity objectiveness lets at least see some effort and creativity with your criticism. LMITOUT
Don't think anyone expected Kalil to come in and suddenly the turn the whole offensive line around. The guy can only play one position at a time, and he's been doing a decent job at it. So in four more years we'll have an entire new o-line and THEN we can get some productivity out of the QB position.Gotcha.If QB 'X' still isn't working out, then what will be the excuse? nofishfisherman
Again, not very original LMITOUT. You can tell us you are objective all you want but that doesn't make it any closer to reality. And now back to the Dwayne Bowe discussion. MuleShack
if you watched the Tampa Bay game you would have seen that Ponder had guys on him before he even got to the 3rd step in his 3 step drop. Isn't that what coaching is for? If you have a defense that is pressuring you because you can only run, then maybe they should be doing some quick slants or center screens or quick flare routes to AP so he can get rid of the ball quickly and put the defense more on their heels.Yea Ponder suxed donkey balls on Thursday, but where are the coaches when it comes to countering what the defense is doing to us? Big Dave2
This thread is like being waterboarded with kool-aid. I LOLed at this one! If I had been drinking the Kool-aid at the time I read this I would have spit it on my computer monitor!
Big Dave2
There is a huge difference between run and pass blocking. Ponder has been hit/hurried the third most in the NFL. I know all about the difference between run and pass blocking. I certainly wasn't a wide receiver with a name like Big Dave!If you remember back a few years, Brett Favre did not have any better of offensive line to protect him but look what he did. A GOOD QB can make an offensive line look a lot better than they are and vice-versa.

schmitty3
Funny how Ponder is getting compared to Favre and Rodgers. Those are both HOF quarterbacks, Ponder is in there to manage the game, and not make mistakes. Not saying he has played well by any means, but the line hasn't helped him much. Also Favre was awful his last yr in 2010, and that line was most like this years.
nofishfisherman
LMITOUT, if you don't like the kool-aid then feel free to step away from the vikings threads. No ones forcing you to talk about it but for some reason you can't seem to pull yourself away. I've never seen someone expend so much energy to hate on a sports team for no apparent reason.Big Dave seems to like to play devils advocate on all things Vikings but at least he usually tries to back up what he's saying with some sort of evident thought process. LMITOUT
My apologies if my thought process goes right over your head. It's apparent it doesn't take much.
james_walleye
For a 3rd rounder I would say it would be hard to pass up.
nofishfisherman
Looking at the list of free agent WR's there are a few decent options that may be available.Dwayne BoweGreg JenningsMike WallaceFrom what it sounds like none are expected to resign with their teams because of salray cap issues. If you could pick one of those 3 who would you rather have? Is it worth giving up a pick to basically get exclusive negotiating rights to Bowe or should we just hold on to the pick and try to sign one of those three in the off season? nofishfisherman
Another "experts" take: Quote: Bowe is unlikely to be traded, however, as receivers tend to need too much time to adjust to a new offensive system and quarterback for it to be worth a team to trade for him. In addition to the draft choice cost, an acquiring team would need to be willing to spend over $5 million ($5,037,353 to be specific) in fully guaranteed base salary this season on a potential half-season rental. If that team wanted to franchise Bowe next offseason, it would cost $11.418 million as the ruling Stephen Burbank made in the Drew Brees case in July makes a 2013 franchise tag the second of Bowe's career and subject to the mandatory 20 percent increase. So $5 million this season and perhaps $11-12 million next season (or a new contract) for Bowe, plus a draft pick. Right now I'm more inclined to stick the season out with what we have. I don't think Bowe turns us into a playoff team this season so I'd hold on to the pick to help fill holes that we have and then look at free agency to pick up more talent at WR. Slabasaurus
Adrian Peterson seems to have no trouble running behind those same offensive linemen. Good QBs make quick decisions and don't need their offensive linemen to block for 10 seconds. No, but 3 would be nice. Not many humans can run a 2.1 40.And besides. AP can run 10 yards with 5 defenders on his back. he's a freak.
Musky Buck
We should've pursued Vincent Jackson harder when we had the chance, I'd take Bowe, he's physical, fights for the ball.
Big Dave2
Ponder is in there to manage the game, and not make mistakes. If that is all you expect out of your quarterback in the NFL you will not win many games.

Juan Grande
There's no way the Vikes sign Bowe or Wallace and Percy Harvin. Wallace will want max money and the Vikes are going to have to pay a ton to keep Harvin.
nofishfisherman
You can win in the NFL with a QB who can manage the game but you need a very good defense to do it consistently. I think Ponder can develop into a game manager type Qb given time but given our defensive issues over the past 10 years he'll need to be more than that to win consistently and to go deep into the playoffs.
