reinhard1
this week it's rainbow with baby backs at 2.99 lb. limit of one. Target has baby backs at 2.79 with a limit of 6 . good luck.
fishattacker
That is a pretty good deal. My ribs turned out pretty good. Ate one rack for supper and vaccuum sealed up three racks for easy suppers on busy summer nights.
reinhard1
Walmart has spareribs for 1.98 lb. and Target got St. Louis ribs for 1.97 lb. now that is a super price for St. Louis ribs. cub has bone in strip steaks for 5.99 lb. good luck.
Leaky
I picked up a couple of $2.79 BB at Target last week and they had St Louis in the same place for same price. Not bad for St Louis. but now this is the 2nd time they've put them @ 1.97. Although I have a dozen racks in the freezer now (combo BB & St. Louis)I might as well stock up for the year.My Buddy & I are going to have a Rib Off wherever we end up camping on Namakan in August. We'll each pre-smoke 2 racks of ribs & freeze, sauce and warm them up on the grill while up there and let the rest of our group vote. Cooks choice as to BBs or St. Louis. Winner gets an Attaboy, one beer from the loser and the rest of the group will eat like kings for one of our nights. Can't wait.
reinhard1
great way to do it Leaky. i just stopped and got 6 of the St. Louis ribs. that makes 18 racks of baby backs and 6 of these in my freezer. going to get some more tommorow. good luck. jmd1
Man i wish i could find prices like that, even the big box stores are 5.99 lb for ribs. Every now and then Costco will put them on for 3.99 but you have to be there at the right time. I bought a small packer cut end piece of brisket (butcher cut a 3 lb piece for me) and have it on the grill now. I don't do much as we can't use charcoal on high pollution days (every day) so have it on my gas grill. Low and slow 200 is as low as i can get it so it will cook in 4-6 hrs. Some fresh (well not that fresh) corn on cob, and we are set. Brisket was 7.99 lb trimmed, he gave it to me for 5.99 packer. I felt special. Have a great Sunday, it is just almost too hot for me to be grilling today, 116 on my porch.
reinhard1
ya, i guess there are benifits for living up here putting up with the cold [which i realy dont mind]. i dont know why its so expensive down there but it's 92 right now and that's hot enough for me. have a great Sunday also and a brisket sounds real good anytime. i should add that depending where you shop here the regular prices of baby backs around here are anywhere from under 4 to near 5 bucks lb. st. louis ribs are usualy around under 3.50 lb. good luck. Leaky
What the heck RH? Do you have a walk-in freezer in your basement? Maybe I need to rent a few shelves.
reinhard1
not a walk in but a large chest freezer in the garage and one in the basement. i used to proccess deer so i got them for that reason. i just gave my upright freezer to my daughter. so i have room for more yet . i do have some events comming up that will use some of these up. one is another rib fest for my neighbor who came home from the middle east [major in the Army}. and a family thing for the birth of my new grandaughter which will be any time now. so 12 or so racks will be gone in short order. good luck. Walleyehooker
Read this and had to run to Target and get some ribs. They had a limit of 6 but they had a lot of them and you could just go back in and get 6 more as many times as you wanted or at least thats what I do. reinhard1
Hey, Leaky, i went again today and got 6 more. i still have a foot to reach the top of my freezer . having a rack today so that will give me a couple of inches . got to take atvantage while you can. i'm way over my meat budget though. good luck. Leaky
Ya RH - I don't mind blowing my meat budget when its a deal like this. Let see, if you have a foot to go, that otta be a least another 4-5 more racks.
reinhard1
the chest freezer is about 6 feet long and 3 feet high and 28 inches wide. so i have a couple of trips left. got some butts in there too. guess i will have ribs more often like tonight with a Asian salad. but like everything there is a limit. there will be a rib sale labor day also, so ribs will be on the menu here and there. good luck. MuleShack
Hey, Here's a suggestion for one of you mod guys...Lets make a topic in the cooking section for meat sales and sticky it.That way everyone can post sales when they see them and others can get in on the deals. Not just ribs, but Briskets and chops etc. I know I get some of the favorite threads emailed to me, so If I see a deal, i can just stop on the way home. How bout it?
