Sounds like an exciting morning! I'm still at home here, going to go out in WI tomorrow with my dad. I also have a surplus tag for D season over there. Will probably also pick up a MN Archery tag to hunt some spots with my dad.

noticed dalton had the 3rd season, you been out? i have 7 days to go and the birds are still there. on wed i'm scouting some more and on sunday and monday i'll be out each morning. anybody keep track of the miles you put on just to get ready for your season i know its more than i put on in the fall for deer season. it doesnt matter to me cause i enjoy the outdoors its what i live and work for.

I roosted 2 behind the house tonight,well not really they just let me know they were their. I was working behind the barn when I went into shock hearing them gobbling only a few hundred yards away. I normally see a few on the neighboring farms but they don't really hang around here these ones have been around for a month now and no sign of leaving. So I'm pumped I know their roost and their strut zone is my food plot COME ON MAY 8TH.

Had the nite off work, decided to put some birds to bed. the same 5 big toms are still togeather, seen 2 other ones with a really nice one too. only 6 more mornings and then i'll finally beable to go out and see what i can do. The toms i have in this field i plan on hunting are still gobbling, and with the same 5 in the group still i should have a good chance. I plan on using 2 hens and being out there around 4:30 in the am thats all set up and decoys out. Wunder how dalton did no reply back yet.

archerysniper hows it looking for you going to bag one first morning? as for me i should have one if i can sneak in there without too much noise, i've noticed they selected a differnt group of trees now. one question for the team: why is there the same 5 big birds togeather yet, also i still seen a few small groups of hens running around and not as many as there was 2 weeks ago. i know they are on the eggs now but the toms still in the same area, i guess its better for me that they are.

mws4dux: are you going to beable to get out on the 8th? looks like we are in need of some hefty birds if we are going to pull this one off. i would like to congrat everyone who has registered a bird so far, and good luck to the remaining group. gotta wait another 4 days, this is driving me crazy.

You'll never make sense of why turkeys do what they do. Maybe the gobblers are all out of hens to chase so they just went back to their bachelor group. Question their pea brains much more and they might decide to move a mile down the road and then you're screwed.

I dont know but the same 5 birds has been togeather all spring, hope they stay in the same routine for another 4 days anyway.

I am still trying to find a day to get out again yet, just got to make some time for it. Unfortunately time calls in other directions.

I don't plan on hunting till the 10th but that could change.I have 3 and four day weekends the month of May.Was out today with my brother,little gobbling,saw 3 toms and 3 hens none of toms came within 90 to 100 yards.We will be out the next 4 mornings.Then I get to go,can't wait...

I don't know about tagging out opening morning for me with work I won't get a morning to hunt till that Sat unless a job falls through. My good property the land owner has a tag for the 8th-12th as soon as he's tagged out or out of time I'm moveing in for the kill.

Was out with my brother today and he was able to get a nice tom with his bow. I was getting pretty excited for for my try with the bow but didn't read regs closely.I was successful in the lottery so therefor i'm ineligible for an archery only tag. So I will more than likely buy an surplus E tag.

HI. Dalton here. I went down to the last day(friday) and pored, blew, and was cold every day. Just wasnt in the cards. I ended up having to shoot a Jake. I am only 12 so I have alot of great Turkey hunting time left my Grandpa Jeff say's.. I have pictures on his phone and camera but dont know how to put them on hear.. Soory I couldnt help out!!

Sorry, if you're hunting Minnesota, you are only able to buy one tag, the surplus tags are for those who didn't draw or didn't apply.

I never bought my B season tag therefore i can purchase an over the counter tag just not an archery only tag. I will be heading out in the morning for a couple of hours before work.Same on wed then I'm off thur and fri.

A Jake is a great bird this year any bird is a trophy the way this spring has been. My friends call me Jake slayer for a reason

All right I have a little delay in the work schedule so I can hunt in the morning the camo's layed out blind is set and the bow is in the truck. Good luck for everyone else heading out in the morning.

I'll be out in the morning also, been watching a nice tom strutting every morning now. 2 days ago he had 3 hens with him, today he only had one but is still coming to the field the same direction and he also has his strut zone that he likes to be in. hopfully in 7 hours i'll have him on the ground, also the field i have all the birds at were very vocal this morning so things are looking up. GOOD LUCK to my team members and anybody else heading out.

Well as much as I hate to admit it I missed, I shot him for 30 yards and skimmed some belly feathers. However I have 2 that are gobbling closet now.

It is a well known fact that turkeys always appear when you are the least ready. So by typing on the phone, he is tricking the turkeys into THINKING he is not ready.

Same strategy works for fishing too.
