Hey guys, I'm not picky at all on team name. I am still sorting out my Black Hills trip, my hope is that we go over the weekend of the 21st for probably a 5 day trip. We have a line on some primo private ground this year so if that works out I might double up and get an archery tag for out there and extend the trip...

I also have two WI permits which will allow me to hunt from Apr 25 - May 9. There is also still a chance I might get a MN archery or one-week late season permit.

I am going to do a quick scouting trip to Wisconsin this weekend. I have a bunch of land I want to check out before my season starts. I'll be shooting with my camera. If all goes well I will come back with some photos to share.

I have 2 tags to fill in Gregory county South Dakota.

I am still in pursuit of my first ever Tom, and have eaten turkey tag soup the last 2 years of trying. I will only try to take a Tom but if I get desperate I may opt for a hen so I don't come home empty handed again.

I will be going out April 14th for a day trip to mainly scout but will have a gun ready if needed. The following weekend the 20th-22nd I have fully dedicated to 3 hard days of hunting both private and public land.

The last couple years we have seen birds just couldn't get them to talk or get close enough to provide a good shot with a shot gun. So this year I will probably have a shotgun and a rifle(its legal here in SD) to possibly take a longer shot. I have no idea what the birds will be doing with the mild weather this spring but hopefully scouting a week before our main hunt will give us some extra insight.

I have no preference on team name, but good luck everyone I am hoping the 3rd year is the charm for me.

Rundrave, it looks like there is a lot of un-farmed coulee type land north of Bonesteel and east of Burke. Is any of that public? Just going by the google map satellite imagery it looks like it could be a fun area to chase turkeys.

I checked the online atlas, looks like there are some big walk in areas in there.

In that GFP link you posted, when you look at that area all that red and yellow shaded areas right along the river is all public land.

I will be hunting a few miles north basically just south of hwy 44 on the west side of the river.

Its a gorgeous area, not what people typically think of for SD and there is some top notch fishing right there on the river also. Here are some pics I took last year of that area:

Hey Hey it's turkey time. I will be chasing birds on the archery tag and hunting from May 8th-31st unless my tag gets filled sooner. I have been out scouting almost every night and gaining permission on more property this year. Hopefully I can keep my streak alive and make this the 5th year in a row running a arrow thru a tom opening day of my season.

I know its a little early but want to talk to the land owners to see if i could help them out, offering a little help goes a long way.

Just got home from a scouting trip to Wisconsin. I didn't see much for turkeys. I did manage to get some photos of a fox on the road, and a few hens out in the fields. I asked a few farms for permission but they were already locked up by other hunters.

My Black Hills trip is set finally, April 17-22. Then I come home and can hunt Wisconsin for the following two weeks. Dunno if I will do MN or not, I suppose it depends on what I see posted on the forum here for turkey numbers in the SE part of the state.
