Looks like a tag on the rear leg to me, who knows where it was shot. I think they may have been smart enough for a cheap blue tarp at a minimum if it wasn't taken legally. Good for them looks like a nice kitty.

Lots of guys I went to school with in Wisconsin made trips with their bear hounds out west for cats. Looks like these guys had a successful hunt!
