Full Moon Effect on Ice fishing???

pathogen you are refering to "new moon", which would fall on the 21st of this month.

This year I've paid more attention to the moon, not so much as it relates to fishing, just being able to look at the moon and tell what phase it's in. Wheather it's waxing or wanning, gibbous or cresent, when it rises, when it sets, and how they all relate.

Worst week of fishing I have had this winter. Last two nights I had crappies stacked up 10 feet off the bottom but they would not touch anything. It was like they were paralized they would barely move at all. Sounds like others have experienced the same thing this week.

Thanks Farley, you're exactly correct. My mind 'locked up' and I couldn't remember the terminology. (too early in the morning to begin thinking) smile

The great "Full Moon Myth". My observations are that fishing is worse during the Full Moon. It really stinks during the softwater period. Moon Rise and Moon Set and No Moon Shallow-Game on!.

I also have found this to be true with the exception of spawning time.

I was actually looking at it on my GPS and decided to stay a little after the moon fully rose to about 1/4 into the sky. Still no pickup in activity. Funny thing is just before it rose was the time slot that I had been getting the most activity in previous trips. I figured the combo of the two would make for some hot fishing. I was very wrong.

I remember there being a list of large fish caught and the majority were within 3 days of some lunar cycle point. Maybe it was just an off night for me.
