weight/length of this fish?

My friend caught this bass today and hes claiming it weighed 5 pounds (yeah right) but I think it weighs more like 3. What do you guys think?

no, it does not appear to be 5#'s. But, I have posted pics of fish and people said it was not that large and I knew better. Pics can be decieving to say the least.

I agree with harvey, pictures can be deceiving. But, I would say its around 3lbs give or take. If you need to settle a bet then throw it on a scale.

I'd guess three before five also but I think there's been a lot of five pound bass that look that big.

Pic can be deceiving.

That fish is at least 7 pounds and the guy holding the fish is 42.

3 lbs, tops. probably closer to 2.75 lbs.

2 1/2 lbs. Don't tell him though. He is what we call a 50 % er meaning what ever they say take 50% of it and you are right. There are dead on people, 10 % ers, 50 % ers and off the chart B.S. ers.

Its obviously a male because of its lake of huge gut. Large Mouth females are filling with eggs right now and they are quite noticeably fat. Of course this is my logic and may not be correct. Id agree with the other guys that say it was 2 1/2- 3 lbs.

2#, Maybe 3 but i doubt it. Looks like a 14" fish judging on his small stature. Don't give him too much carp about it...

The fish in my avatar doesn't look like 54", but i'm 6'6" ,275# and tend to make all fish look small.

Yea don't tell him or rub it in as it will burst his bubble of pride from catching it some day he'll figure it out. Some folks are heavy on the weight thing because they just don't know as is the case here. Some know better but inflate because of ego or insecurity as is the case with us older folks.

I know it is capable of producing a 5 plus pound fish and that fish he is hold sure Could be 5lbs but I would guesstimate it at 3lbs also.

Yeah, I'd say closer to three than five. I've overestimated my fair share of fish...without purposefully trying to. Anyone else ever thought their fish was a pound or two heavier than it actually weighed? I can't be the only one...

As fisherman it's in our nature to strrrrrech the truth about the size of our fish from time to time . After a few days of telling the story all of my 3lb fish seem to become 5lb fish
