Just got permission from a friend to hunt some new property. About 15 or 20 deer come out into the field a buddy and myself will be sitting over (same tree). We want to try to go for a double. What do you think would be better. Shoot the first deer and hope it doesn't scare the rest away or wait until they are all out front and then try to take two different deer?

You will have to let the situation pan out and see what is best at the time. There is no clear cut answer to your question. Trying to do it at the same time could be tough. Personally I think one of you should take the first one, and then have the other take the next. It is hard enough to conceal movement for one person, let alone two. You will also be more focused on what you are doing and not your buddy.

Shoot one and then hope they come back or hang around. Shooting two at once is too risky, if you don't time it just right one of you might be a second ahead of the other and that is more than enough time for a deer to move. If you are lucky you miss, if not you wound the thing. Like I said not worth it.

I think you are getting way ahead of yourself. Concentrate at shooting one before even thinking about taking a second. Just because there are a number of deer in a field doesn't mean you'll get a chance at any of them.

just get a rest that holds 2 arrows and flock shoot em. ;>)

Good one!!

I'm with everyone else, shoot the first one, gut it, then shoot the next one. I've done that several times gun hunting, had the second one walk right by the first gut pile.

If the deer are pretty calm to begin with it is very possible to get two of them. I have done it myself one time and could have other times too but I either didn't need another deer or didn't have a tag. Just shoot the first one and be patient, the deer will often calm down and come back or even investigate what happend to the first deer.

I'd give it a little time before gutting, the others will probably stay somewhat nearby. (something like 30-45 minutes wont be any problem at all)

Couple years ago, two deer walked up to my area. Both standing within about 5 ft of each other. I shot one and it took off running. I thought I had missed, but had multiple tags, so it didn't matter either way. The other one just stood there looking around wondering what the heck just happened. I re-sighted and took it too. dropped right there. When I got down to look, there was a blood trail from the first and I found it about 100 yards away.
