A new floating suit? Striker Suits

The people who have some of the different winter suits could do the rest of us a favor and do a simple test.

Do a simple test to compare suits for warmth.

Pick a test temperature.

Put on a lite long sleeved shirt and one of the test jackets.

Go outside for a length of time (fifteen to twenty minutes) or until you feel coolness on your body. Note temp. and time.

Come inside and wait thirty minutes and test the second jacket.

The jacket, which allows cold in at the shorter time has less COl value.

Please be objective.

ready2fish, the Striker Suit goes over the Predator Extremes and the Saskatchewan boot nicely. Just put them on over mine today. I will say that the 3 way leg zippers that go all the way up to the hip on these suits is awesome. That was about the only thing I ever missed about my old Carhart bibs and now I have it in a suit made for ice fishing.

This suit has not been tested by the weather yet but I can say that today I was kneeling in standing water for awhile and the outside of the bibs felt a little damp but I was bone dry inside. So far so good.

Well, I got to test my suit in both pouring rain and HEAVY snow tonight while tubing over at Buck Hill.

I will say this right now, Striker Suit handling the rain compared to the AA wasn't even close. I never realized how much water the camo AA soaked up, but I was able to compare it head to head tonight as my wife threw the AA suit on. She was absolutely soaked through and I as bone dry. In fact we had to cut our night short because not only was she getting cold from being soaked, the suit became very heavy.

Bitter cold and longevity/durability is about all I have left to test on this suit. So far it has handled everything with flying colors.

Does the Striker Suit feel like it will stay flexible in those -30 to -40 days? Nothing like a suit that stiffens up and the outer shell feels like its going to crack. And no the AA does not cut it in the cold up here in Manitoba. Had to go back to the bulky snowmobile bibs and jacket.

I just picked up my Striker Suit last week, tried it out over the weekend up in Alexandria. It wasn't bitterly cold Saturday, but Sunday the wind was howling. I took the 4wheeler out to run the dogs and I didn't feel a bit of the wind through this suit, it is WARM too. Like Northlander said a wicking base layer is a must (for any outdoor wear). Another light mid layer (wicking) and you're good to go.

Coming from an ice armor blue suit I absolutely love the look/feel of this new Striker Suit, it's so well built and thought out and seems very durable.

-2 this morning and I had my Striker Jacket on while scraping the truck and waiting for it to warm up before heading to work. I was very warm in it and it did not get stiff or "crusty" feeling at all. Now I just need to get some of their gloves because if they are as warm as my suit they will be my new favorite gloves.

I am 6'5" and 260. I have an XL Bib and 2XL Jacket and have more than enough room in both. Also the legs are amazingly long, right down to the floor vs. other pants that are "almost" high-water.

Depending on the "slight" beer belly you may want to go 2xl bib. I have a 40" waist but I would say if you are 44"+ you may want the 2XL.

In my opinion you will be very happy with the Striker Suit!

Sold my Arctic Armor recently, and went and picked up the new Striker Suit. I got the regular, but I may add the Striker Lite version as well. I really like the idea of having a floatation rain suit for early and late season open water fishing, and I think the regular is going to be quite warm!

Full review after the weekend. Heading up to LOTW for a test!

I'm still going strong with my first generation Hardwater suit and Light bibs. Thankfully I have not had to test their floating capabilities yet. I had the crotch on the heavy bibs start to come apart at the end of the first season so I sent them in and they've been fine since. I have recommended Striker to friends and will purchase another Striker suit when the need comes.

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
