Striker Ice Brand Ice Fishing Suit?

Recommended Posts

Has anyone ever tried the Striker Ice suit? Looks like we have another floating ice fishing suit to try out. Just wonder how warm it is in extreme cold temps. I have the Frabill Snosuit but it does not offer floatation. Looks like the Striker Ice suit is reasonably priced also. They off a regular and light weight version.

I got the non floating striker ice fishing bibs and jacket last year and so far I love them. I only used onthem 2-3 trips last year, but they never let me down. Roughly -10 on LOW and 0 and snowing during fishapalooza last year.

My friend also has the same suit neither of use had complaints, Look forward to getting out on the ice soon.... hope this helps..

My reel on the other hand was another story, I think its time to invest in a new reel that will not fall apart when you are bringin in a whopping 6" walleye.

Any suggestions on a decent reel that is not too expensive?

I have had my Striker Suit for a little over a week now. Temps have been so warm up here that I havent given it a shakedown worthy of a true report yet.

I will say its a very well thought out suit, well built and warm. I have the grey/black suit not the Striker Light. Compared to my AA its a more durable outer shell but a bit heavier. I would say about like a Frabill suit or some where in the middle of AA and a Sno Suit. Plenty of pockets, padded knees and butt and you can adjust the leg length on the bibs.

Once we get some true cold and I get the snowmobile out I will give another report. So far Im very happy with it though.

I am very happy with my LITE bibs. However, I am a biased opinion as i have not owned any other brand of ice suit.

At 6'6" tall, i actually had to shorten the bibs by 2", which is easily adjustable.

I'm kind of wondering how long the leg zippers will hold up though - They definitely don't seem as durable as the heavy duty carhart zippers. I could see a little ice in the zipper causing a problem...we'll see.

RedRockStore had mine delivered in under 30hrs from order placement! Fantastic!

Im not a tall guy. And 99% of the ice bibs made out there are way too tall or long for me. Being that the StrikerBrands are adjustable length where can one locally fit one? I like to try it on before buying. If good I will end up selling my barely used StrikeMaster bib cause I look like a hobbit in that. :P

I have the new floating set and absolutely love them. As Northlander said, it is very well thought out with the pockets, zippers etc. It has a drink holder built into the bibs and ice pick pockets in the jacket. They seem like they will be very warm but with the weather I haven't been able to really put them to the test. I really appreciate the generous cuts in the arms and legs. My Columbia, carhart and north face coats/jackets don't have enough room in the sleeves to allow sweaters/sweatshirts etc. This striker coat does, which I noticed right away. BTW I am 6'5" 250LBS and have plenty of room as mentioned with XL bibs and XXL jacket.

I also got one for my 12 yr old son. While they don't offer a youth size the Adult small fits him. He is 5' and 100 pounds.

Very nice suit but I have not been able to see how well I stay warm in it with the real cold temps. Maybe this winter one will have the chance.

The suit is very nice from head to toe.

Some have complained about the snaps not being very tight and that they come loose.

Here is the cure for that.

Take a pair of pliers and gently squeeze the post part of the snap. You’re trying to make it a little bit oblong so the fit into the socket is stronger. Just a little squeeze at first. Then try it out. If it’s still loose, give it another squeeze, and so on, until it gives a satisfying “snap” when you try it out in the socket.

Other than that very small issue, great suit, vents well so one does not get clamy inside. I would say this suit is much better built than any of my Artic Armor suits from head to toe.

Well with temps in the 0 range and wind chill in the 10- range I decided the new Striker Suit was going fishing this morning. It performed exactly how I had hoped. I was very warm in it and it cut the wind great. I walked out 300 yards or so to a spot and when I opened the jacket and air vents I didnt over heat. So far so good with the Striker Suit.

What are you guys wearing under the suits for warmth? They are on my further out shopping list.

Simple1

I have yet to get cold in my LITE strikers, i wear jeans under. I've actually been hot in them more than anything (but that is from long hauls pulling the sled) and the 3 zipper legs allow you to easily let some air flow in. I would be WAY too hot if i wore the regular strikers.

I've been out hole hopping in the ugliest weather this winter has had to offer...which hasn't been that bad IMO.

I love my Striker Suit. Super warm and well made and thought out. I like it so much I want to try some of their gloves and mitts. Anyone have any that can give a review on them?

I have been wearing my jeans and a wicker under shirt, light shirt and hooded Otter sweatshirt under mine and its more than enough so far. Even when snowmobiling across the lake.

I've been wearing just a thermal top and bottom under my Lite suit, and am always plenty warm. I really appreciate the arm vents and the three zippers on each leg to cool me off when needed. The hood is great (esp for a removable hood), the adjustable pant legs work perfectly, and it has tons of pockets for storage. The quality seems to be top notch. I'm completely satisfied with mine.

I just got my suit and gloves in the mail today. I cant wait to hit the ice tomorrow and this weekend. I am really impressed with the suit and the quality design so far and how warm it is also. Once I put it through so trials I will report back. I will feel a lot safer sleeping next to the spear hole knowing at least I will float if I fall in grin

Picked up my Striker Ice Bibs (floating) over the weekend at Korky's as its currently on sale. Made few comparison between the insulation by touch and feel and im impressed. Seems its supposed to have 175g of insulation compared to the likes of the Ice Armor Grey bibs 120g, and the Frabill snowsuit bibs which I thought may have had warmer insulation but is also rated at 120g. I have tested them out yet and will probably pickup the Parka sometime later this month.

Fit was very nice and the adjustable inseam is a added welcome to shorter people. It didnt have as much pockets and I wish the zipper when further down so it be easier when using the rest room lol. The only question is durability especially with all the velcro. Something time will tell?

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
