Public land deer hunter survey

Just curious as to what you do. Do you have a "year-after-year" stand or do you scout out an area every year?

I have one "year-after-year" stand and hang a second after scouting. (Have had great luck with the year-after-year stand though).

Just wondering what the majority does thats all.

I have a pile of year after year locations and I am always scouting for new areas that hold nice bucks.

I have a portable stand that has gone in the same place, actually even the same tree, for the last 6 years. I have shot a deer every year of those last 6 years, so no reason to change. If it works, don't fix it!

This year may be different, though. The area was completely brushed out early this summer in preparation for a controlled burn that never happened. So I'll see what it looks like when I get up there the morning before opener to set up my stand.

We hunt the same stands year after year. Have box stands and some of these have been hunted out of for 15 years. Only one occasion can we remember having someone else jump in one of the stands that we built..

I have year after year stands, but never stop looking for new spots. I have ladder stands, hang ons, ground blind, and a climber. Constantly looking for mature deer, so on the move alot.

I have trees that I can see deer out of most times out. Always use a climber though. never seem to sit in the same tree more than a few times each year. If one of my trees isnt producing sightings after 3-4 sits its time to move.

i've been hunting the same stand areas since the 60's. usualy it's between two stands. good luck.

Our group uses portable, but they go in the same tree or near by tree yearafter year.
