Hunter who bagged Hope speaks

Recommended Posts

Interesting read, but didn't learn anything new. Thought it was odd that Dennis Anderson tried, and tried again (even after the hunter asked him not to) to get the hunter's name. Why was he trying so hard? Ratings? I dunno... Anyway, here's the link: Strib Story

the most revealing part of the article...

"No collared bears being studied by Rogers have been shot, and just one, an adult male, of the DNR's. The hunter who killed the DNR study bear told the agency he didn't see the collar before shooting.

Fallout from the death of the DNR bear has been minimal to nonexistent. But last week when news spread of Hope's demise, the DNR heard from people worldwide, some of whom argued that bear hunting is cruel."

(bolding is mine)

Ratings?

Yep, and to sell more newspapers.

It bothered me as well that he says he tried twice to get the guys name to publish it. Nothing good will come from publishing that hunter's name, only a dangerous situation for the hunter and his family.

It's funny how outraged people get yet many that are have likely had a road killed deer to their credit in life or a dog or cat or whatever or drive a vehicle with leather seats or whatever, crybabies. In 1841 wild nasty blizzard these same folks' relatives slaughtered the family horse to survive so these people can bellyache 170 years later. I bet these folks suffer depression like syptoms when a bear is tranquilized in a metro area and it falls to the ground with a thump, yet people on the street they live on can be living an extremely difficult life and likely get no sympathy or assistance from many of these folks. Crazy backward world we have today.

"One supporter of Rogers wrote on a Facebook page following Hope's disappearance, "I honestly believe she was targeted. Hunters (the unethical ones) knew she wasn't collared = fair game. I don't believe for one minute it was a 'mistake' or he/they didn't know who she was.'' "

I would love to have this person come up to northeast MN and try to tell bears apart. im guessing the hunter who shot Hope has better things to do then go on facebook and look at Hope fan page, and learn everything about the hope and tell its her without her collar.

I just read some of the face book comments...wow! I can't believe some of it, they act as if the bear was a person...make a foundation or statue in memory of, and how the bear inspired and changed their lives... I am all for respecting life but come on get a life.

Why name the bear ? That's when a bear takes on some sort of different identity than what it is a bear. Like these bellyachers are all just tip top christians, we don't know what wrongdoings some of these folks do, unreal, when our deer are starving like in 1997 I didn't receive any checks from these folks in helping feed 250 head that were on my property, we took it upon ourselves, where's the thanks for that people? If you don't like our country and hunting lets say move, Afghanistan has lots of nice little villages for you.
