Read one article on how a lot of the media is leaving out the dog drowning part of the story, since it diminishes the "resurrection" story of Vick. Pretty sad. So a person does a crime, turns his life around and yet he should somehow pay for it the rest of his life?Atleast he has a job and is a productive member of society. Look at how many people dont learn from their crimes and continue a pattern of crime the rest of their lives.

Look at how many people dont learn from their crimes and continue a pattern of crime the rest of their lives. Are they offered millions of dollars? No. Productive member of society??? Thats funny right there. He is a football player, not a God. He is lucky I am not commisioner, a lifetime ban would have been a very fitting punishment. Pete Rose never killed anything and that has been his punishment. I remember when this all happened, you bad mouthed pit bulls, and I am not a fan myself- but what he did is unforgiveable. He HUNG dogs from trees, he DROWNED them. Why should he be able to make money 95% of the planet only dream about?
zepman
Because he CAN!! That's what America is all about...What he did was childs play compared to alot of NFL players out there right now.

So how much should be the maximum you can earn after a DUI? A theft charge? A speeding ticket?

schmitty3
He did his time, and is moving on. Why keep bringing it up? The guy got almost 2 years for dog fighting when you got other NFL players involved in murders and drug busts getting nothing. There is no reason he shouldn't be making as much as the other guys. CJH
The guy got almost 2 years for dog fighting when you got other NFL players involved in murders and drug busts getting nothing. Gotta say, killing innocent dogs (he admitted to personally drowning 10-20 of them when he decided they weren't going to be good fighting dogs) is a lot worse in my book than smoking some weed. The violence (whether its domestic/shootings/dogs/whatever) is horrible and they should be treated severely. I am all for serving your time and redeeming yourself, I just don't like the way this story has been sensationalized. There are a lot of NFL players that do great things and get zero press for it. flipper
If we are going to start judging all professional sports figures based on their moral record then I think we would quit idolizing most of them.Vick is a great quarterback and maybe should be judged on that alone when it comes to sports. Northlander
I have no problem with him doing his time, getting out and playing again and even making a few million. What I do hate is that people put him up on a pedestal and seem to forget what he did. There are many athletes that I just wont watch if they are playing because of what they have done in the past. Steve Foss
The way I look at it, doing his time means he gets to start over with a clean slate. I don't understand why people can't let go of such things.
bottomdweller
I guess I do have a problem with Vick returning to football.Im all for starting over, clean slate and all. But putting him back in football is like rewarding him. Why do we reward people who commit crimes because they are special at something. The killing he did is not far from doing it to humans. Should we give Quadafi back his country after he does his time. Get a job, start over, maybe work at a humane society for the rest of his life. Just saying!! Steve Foss
I'm all for starting over, clean slate and all. But putting him back in football is like rewarding him. Why do we reward people who commit crimes because they are special at something. Turn it the other way around. Not allowing him back in football is punishing him further when he's already served his time. As a society, Americans tend to be very judgmental, and we continue to punish people in many, many ways long after they've fulfilled the legal obligations required by their crimes. It's just how many of us are.

So it is only bad if he killed a dog like the one in your pic, Sled? When this all came out, you were literally OK with it because his crime involved pit bulls. CJH
The reason why Vick is good and makes the big money is he has a stellar arm to go with his running skills He makes big money because of his legs. He is an inaccurate passer - 55% this year and 25th in the league. He is 55.3% for his career - below average. That's not a stellar arm.
