zepman
The Vikings did draft a QB in Tarvaris Jackson not too long ago...to be their franchise QB. He, along with 85% of other qb's don't pan out. The year they let him go, they draft Ponder. Before that yet, they drafted Culpepper to be THAT guy.I don't get your point LMIT...looks like they've been trying to find "that" guy for awhile now. If it were that easy, every team in the NFL would have a superstar QB. We all know that's not the case...The Packers got lucky with Rodgers...he's the real deal...and a concussion away from joining Troy Aikman in the booth. Enjoy him while you can. Sorry, you don't draft QB's from colleges that have hyphens in their name and then say you're building for the future with a straight face.BTW, why don't we put Webb in? I thought you said that Webb and Cam Newton were "basically the same player" and we saw what Newton did yesterday. ROFL.I just don't see any sense into putting $100M into a RB that isn't going to win you a championship. Waste of money when there are glaring holes up and down the roster of this team. james_walleye
Boy you have an answer to everything......except what i asked you. How does giving AP an extension hinder the vikings process of finding the next Aaron Rodgers. The correct answer that your not man enough to admit is that it doesn't. With or without AP they go about it the same way.
LMITOUT
I gave you the answer but you can't admit that I'm right. If you still can't figure it out then read my last sentence of my previous post if you can put the Kool-Aid down long enough to comprehend it. james_walleye
Another vintage move by lmit. Just change things around just a bit and avoid the subject of the conversation. In this case its how does signing AP hinder the bikes from finding their future qb. Let's see in 3 years when the bikes and ponder might be ready to contend, AP will now be the 6th highest paid RB, and the salary cap will be 30-40 million higher. Yup, none of the that has anything to do with whether or not ponder is the future or not, which is what YOU have been arguing about until it was thrown in your face that your argument is baseless. The vikings hope they have their qb so signing AP does nothing to hinder the process of finding their qb.
LMITOUT
I'm not avoiding anything and cannot help the helpless. I'm sorry that you can't (or wont) understand it. You do realize there is a salary cap, right? This isn't baseball. We can go all the way back to the beginning and start over with the fact that you've tied up an enormous amount of money into one player at a position that will not win you a title. I repeat: 39 yards. You would have beeen better off paying the punter the $100M as then you'd at least get your money's worth this year. james_walleye
I mentioned salary cap in my last post, but no I didn't know that thx. I'm done with this because no matter what anyone says you will constantly slightly change your angle to suit your argument. You have totally avoided the original argument of how signing AP does anything to hinder the vikes finding a future qb. I'm still waiting to hear where this magic qb tree is that would have delivered the saints passing attack in 2 years if they would have let AP go. mrklean
ha your guys dislike for lmitout makes me laugh he makes a valid point but you guys dont want to listen to it. Fact AP is the best or second best back in the league no doubt about that and not many people wont agree with that, but to throw 7 years and 100 million at him your crippling your team, like someone said he ran for 98 yards behind a crappy line, well with 12-14 mill tied up in one RB thats money taken away from decent O linemen, Benson has a salary of 3 mill plus 2 mil in bonus plus the guy will rush for 1000+ this year again. 14-5=9 mill for oline, secondary, etc the info is all out there you just need to get past your dislike for the guy and look at the facts there all there. Good for AP he got PAID!!!

B. Amish
what does it matter? the vikes could cut him at any time. it's a no brainer to sign him long term. does anyone think he'll still be our running back in 7 years?remember last year when McNabb got a long term extension with the redskins.... schmitty3
Limit you have still yet to answer the question of how the signing of Adrian Peterson hinders the Vikings of getting a franchise quarterback when they already have what they believe is that in Ponder? Whenever asked this you come back with a response completely irrelevant to the question being asked. either that or we get 39 yards... Good for AP he got PAID!!! I'm listening and there is validity to it. The problem I have is in 10 years the vikings still might not have a qb worth a carp. If in 3 years Ponder is the man and you have another serviceable RB and that cap room is needed to make final improvements than move AP. There will always be a market for him. But this notion that the vikings signing AP is a choice made rather than finding a franchise qb and a superior passing game is a joke. They took Ponder hoping he is that link. In the meantime now you sign your horse and go with him.
Big Tom
No, what I'm saying is that you can get almost any RB to do what Peterson did today and that instead of fooling around with a "serviceable QB" that people are so fond of talking about, you should be getting a serviceable RB and putting your money into a better QB/passing game. Wow week One and full on Troll already. Any running Back 98 yards? Laughable. Cedric Benson, puhleeze. And the alternative to signing him was? I guess they could have taken the Twin's route with AP and let him hit free agency without a deal. The bigger problems for this current team is they lose the battle at the line on both sides, they have nothing beyond your favorite bust at receiver and the revolving door with old guys playing qb behind a lousy line with crappy play calling continues. Will $13.5M a year make it harder to put quality everywhere including QB, sure. But, only two of the Super Bowl Quarterbacks in the last 10 years were acquired through trades or free agency. You still basically need to draft one to win the big one. Peterson will keep butts in the seats in the mean time though.

FISHINGURU
Fans like LMITOUT are heart broken, he loves the Vikes so much he gets all emotional about it. I bet he hasn't missed a game since he started watching them. The Premier players in the league make alot of money, period. They are all over paid, if they didn't make so much and take up so much money themselves their teams would be better. If we would of lost AP that would be going in the wrong direction. Don't forget our plan from the beginning was to draft our QB of the future and play him this year. With no offseason that wasn't an option anymore so we had to pick up a veteren. I'd rather have a guy like McNubb then Collins on our team, I don't care that he only threw for 40 yards he also only got 15 attempts, about the same amount of attempts AP got. RumRiverRat
With the paycheck he is cashing he should average 125 yards rushing and 2 TDs a game.Anything less is unacceptable.
