6 Year old Vexilar

Found a decent looking Vexilar FL-8 SLT talked to the guy and said he just couldn’t get into ice fishing he’s asking a normally or a little below average at 150. Wondering if being 6 years old that it would affect anything? The carrying case isn’t the nicest but I could always upgrade that.

as long as it's in good working condition, $150 is a good deal. A well cared for Vex will last for a lonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnng time.

The older fl-8's will generaly last a long time if cared for and maintained properly. I had one I bought back in the early 90's that I must have put 2-3 thousand hours on on before it died.

I still have mine that I bought back in 1988. Many many hours on it. The wife uses it now.

Being that the seller never really got into ice fishing tells me a couple things. First, that he probably isn't too into the sport enough to know the true value his vexilar carries. Secondly, he probably didn't use the vexilar very much which means it is probably is good condition. Both of those things tell me you are probably looking at one heck of a deal and I would jump all over it. Just do the usual check over before buying and make sure everything still works.

I looked pretty hard to find mine and I ended up with an FL-8 for $150. This was in the middle of winter, so I was really happy to find it for that price.

My FL8 is only 8 years old and works just like brand new. I wish that thing would die so I could tell the wife I need a new one

I bought my FL-8 used about 6 years ago for $125 and haven't ever had a problem. I bought my sons FL-8 that had taken a bumpy ride on LOW (pro-pack was a little roughed up) about 4-5 years ago for $100 and that has been a great unit as well.

For $150 I would scoop that up in a second.

I sold my first FL-8 a couple of years ago and it still worked great. It was a Hondex and that was before Vex bought them out. I would have no problem buying the one you are talking about because it will have very low hours.

And even if it does have issues they can be fixed at Vexilar.

Mine is 7 years old and still running awesome and it gets a pretty good work out every year.

what he said. no idea how old mine is, got it used at least 5 years ago. Runs like a champ still.

Yeah, that's a good deal. I had an FL-8 SLT that wasn't that old, in good condition, and $150 is what I sold it for.

Seeing that you are in far western MN compared to me, there is a guy in Hinckley that has two FL-8s for sale for 150$ each, both in good shape bought an FL12 from him a year old at 200$ almost felt guilty

I have an original fl-8 that I just took apart and cleaned up today.It has Made in Japan stickers all throughout on the circuit boards and plastic shell.I think it was assembled in 1989(first serial#s for fl-8) and still going strong.This unit has been USED and abused bouncing across the frozen tundra for years!Love the Vexilar fl-8!c63

I have a Micronar FL-8 old school baby! Put a new transducer on it with the loose sonar cable and I have not had a problem with it except having to put a new battery in it! Works like a champ!
