Dock skipping surprise

Was out fishing with my 5yr old daughter on Sat. afternoon. Hit some familiar docks for bass and was having a decent day. Had a light bite and the line swam off. Set the hook and was ready for a bass. It fought kind of differently. I caught a bullhead on a whacky worm last week so I wasn't sure what to expect. I pulled out a 13in walleye. Beats the heck out of Lindy rigging!! That was a first for me. On side note, just went from an old MinnKota Auto Pilot to a Maxxumm w/ considerably more thrust. What a world of difference. Looks like a torpedo mounted on my bow, but works like a charm. Any one else catch a surprise species under a dock?

I ran into some eyes earlier in the season fishing docks and even up in the weeds before they got over grown. They were never their two days in a row tho. Its nice to get something other than Pike and largies every now and then. smile

My Dad and I caught back to back walleyes on a dock one spring skipping flukes. Funny thing is we had just chatted with a guy drifting by fishing walleyes and he asked if we had caught any, we told him we dont really fish the 'eyes at that lake in the summer mainly bass.

One other time on Waconia, large sandy area and 3 ft around this dock, bright sun, and catch a walleye. Strange.

I wasent fishing docks but i caught a 15in walley on a skitter prop. I was casting tward the weedline and about half way back something just sucked it right in almost like little blue gills do. I was confused and didnt know what to think.

Best for me was a 35in tiger musky, hit really hard and I set thinking this is a nice bass. Comes up for a jump and leaps out of the water like a dolphin. Was a fun fight in that shallow water but I sure wish it had been the six pound bass I originally thought. Fish hit on a good old senko.

Was fishing docks on Chisago about a month ago and at first I thought I had a bass hammer my jig. Then I thought it might be a northern since it didn't surface for awhile......and the fight was decent. Come to find out it was an overzealous dog fish, ugly thing!

My one and only walleye out of a MN lake took a small x-rap near a dock.

Interesting you found one that took a wacky worm. That's one I still need to get on a wacky worm, one of the best lures out there and catches everything from bass to muskies and lake trout.
