Vikings released LT Bryant McKinnie.

A classic example of wasted talent, McKinnie made just one Pro Bowl in nine seasons with the Vikings when he had the natural ability of a Jonathan Ogden or Willie Roaf. His undoing in training camp was showing up so fat and out of shape that beat writers noticed he looked much heavier than the already overweight 360 pounds McKinnie had ballooned to by last season's end. When it's noticeable that 6-foot-8, 350-plus pound people have packed on a significant amount of weight, you've got a real problem on your hands. McKinnie was also a notorious party animal off the field. The Vikings will concede the downgrade to Charlie Johnson in exchange for permanently shedding a team cancer. They're also off the hook for McKinnie's $4.9 million salary plus $750K in bonuses.

Looks like we have some spending money now grin

I play a lot of sports, and captain/coach several teams. My philosophy has always been to have players that try their hardest versus those with the best potential/skills. We may not win every game but it's always rewarding.

There's nothing rewarding about watching players like Moss and McKinney who don't truly care. Give me a John Randal or a Matt Birk any day.

The Minneapolis Star-Tribune confirms released LT Bryant McKinnie weighed in "close to 400 pounds" upon arriving at camp.

That's the vibe we picked up late last week when a beat writer noticed McKinnie was considerably bigger than the 360 pounds he played at last season. McKinnie claims he asked for his release to play elsewhere, but also acknowledges he may have to sit out a year and return in 2012. We wouldn't be surprised if the unmotivated former seventh overall pick never suits up again.

I agree that McKinney wasn't a waste of a pick. Anytime you can draft a guy, have him start at LT for 10 years, and the worst that you can say is that he didn't meet his potential....it's not a waste. However, he wasn't going to lead the Vikings to championships and that is what counts. McKinney wasn't the best use of the pick but he sure wasn't the worst use.

And I do believe that he went to the pro bowl. And LMT, please name another team that has always had great draft picks that have ALWAYS turned out good. I am guessing you can not think of one single team.

The wolves HAHAHA

Well he was invited, but then decided he would go out and party the night before and tweet about it. So they un invited him, and made him look like a [PoorWordUsage].

MrKlean, Ouch! that was a low blow grin

I think you meant that he went to the Love Boat, not the Pro Bowl.

But anyway, the question about naming another team that "always" has good picks? That never happens. But the question you should ask yourself is why are the Vikings player movement choices consistently horrible? Yeah, that just happened.

As I said before, the franchise is the laughingstock of the league...always has been. Good luck this year. I heard the hillbilly say that they were going to win the division this year.

Even the mighty Skip Bayless has said that he thinks the Vikings are a playoff team this year with the addition of McNabb. He has the Vikings rated as the 3rd best team as far as off season transactions go. I know he is kinda a goon, but he does know a thing or two.

And there are MANY teams that have consistently BAD player movement choices. Should I start the list? Buffalo, Cincinnati, Seattle...I am sure the list goes on. As far as laughing stock of the league, I would like to hear why this is? And who are the ones laughing? Stir the pot a little more my friend. wink

As I mentioned, the list is long but I think two words should sum it up nicely: Hershel Walker.

And that is only scratching the surface of Vikings blunders, both on and off the field.

While Hershal was a huge mistake for this team, you cant hardly say they are a laughingstock. The Vikings have had some bad years, and some good years. They have had some good drafts, and some bad ones. I would say there are many teams that would take Adrian Peterson, Percy Harvin, Sidney Rice (obviously), along with many others. Bryant Mckinney was never a super star caliber player, but he was worth the pick. All draft picks are a gamble, and if you can get close to 10 years out of a LG, I would hardly call that a bust. LG is a very hard position to fill in the NFL, and even average starting LG are usually taken early in the first round.

I know I could dig up some Packer history that they wouldnt be proud of either, I am sure that goes along with every NFL team.

Ever notice when watching highlights from years gone by the Vikings are always on the bad side of the highlight?

Or if someone is breaking records the Vikings are on the wrong side, allowing that player/team to get the record?

Or if there is a program about NFL follies the Vikings are featured the most?

It's hilarious watching the NFL Network when they have those types of shows on. Yep, there's the Vikings...and again...and again.

Or if they are showing some player breaking a record, guess who's chasing him down the field? A bunch of bafoons in purple and white. Never fails.

Even as someone who isn't a Vikings fan it is a bit embarrassing after a while

    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
