Lowrance H2OC

Question

Alright guys here is the deal I found a used one of these and he was asking around 175 I have talked him down to 130. I think this is a good deal. Are they worth the money my co worker says he loves his but I have never used one before. It doesnt have the lakemaster chip but I just might find a used one of those. Benifits of used or bad things? I know the unit works so I am not too worried about that!

alot of places were selling them brand new couple years ago for 139 out the door..the problem is there are no accesories available for them anymore accept on e-b-a-y so if u need a power cord u might not find one and they eat batteries pretty good..they were a good unit when they came out but u can get a new unit more update touch screen for 199 now so 130 mite be alittle high i would check around on e-b-a-y and see what they are going for

I have checked in multiple places and they are still going for 175-250 on e-b-a-y and c-l-i-s-t. I thought it was a good deal but maybe not? Let me know what the rest of you think. This a good unit? Like i have stated I have heard only but good things about the h20c

the color unit is around the $250 new not $150. I have had mine for six years or so with no regret. It works well for ice fishing, but is small for in the boat (I run a 7" screen here). I have had to send mine in once for repair years ago (back when Lowrance was better with service). I have had no issues since. I love the Lakemaster with the unit as well.

I've had my H20c for 3 years now and enjoy it so much, not sure what I may do w/o it. With my Navionics Chip it's been blessed with even more life. Use mine mainly for ice fishing and navigating my hunting marsh, but it has come in very handy for those early morning boat rides to the duck blind too where I can't plug the chip into my Lowrance. :P No issues yet either.

Lots of guys still use them and they are a good gps. The major complaint that I get from people that own them, is the defective 12V power design. Since this is a discontinued model, you can't get replacement power cables for them. If you only use batteries, this will never be an issue for you. I like the newer models with a magnetic compass slighly better, because you can be standing still and get a correct directional reading.

Personally, I wouldn't pay $130 for a used one. I bought one brand new at c-bela almost 2 thanksgivings ago for $169 and really like it. Maybe $100, but make sure it works well. Seen myself and friends too many times chase a slightly cheaper used option and then a few months later have it take a dive and then you're back to square one.

If I were going to spend $130 toward and H2O I would save my money and put it toward a Garmin, or at least a new unit. I was shocked how technology has changed after using the H20 for six years or so.

The speed that the Garmin locks onto the satellites is unbelievable. I always had a hard time in the woods with the H20 following a straight line. Mine had a tendency to make me wander. The H2O was great as far as price was concerned. If I would have ever say dropped it down the hole ice fishing, it wouldn’t have bothered me. Now if I dropped the new Garmin in the lake I would be sick!

Anyway after parting ways with the H2O, I never looked back. Good luck with whatever direction you choose to take!

I had to have my unit sent in 3 times in 4 years. When it works, it's a great unit.

Power cords are a real issues but if you only use batteries, no biggy there. It does get spendy if you use it alot with the batteries. I would go to the rechargeable batteries to save some there.

I might be tempted to look for a new unit unless you know for sure the unit you are considering is ok. I would trun it on and off a few times to make sure it picks up as signal the same amount of time each time you turn it on.

Mine would work at times and then hardly at all.

Since the last time I sent it in 2 years ago, it has been perfect.

I don't think they support it any more. Buy a new one and get a better product and one that you can get the support and accessories for. H2O's were great but they've been surpassed by the new stuff.

Well guys thanks for all of your information about the GPS I was looking for it didn’t not have the power cord so I offered him 100 and didn’t want to take it. I don’t know if I would ever used the power cord but still thought I could have gotten him down but nothing. Since all you guys are saying these are out dated what is a good one to replace a handheld gps like this? I have only heard negative things about this gps on here otherwise I have only heard good things but willing to look at newer/better ones let me know!

I still use my H20c, and I've had it for 4 years. Never a problem with it either. It did eat batteries, but works perfect with a 12V power cord. I'm sure there have been improved units introduced since then however.

My H20 quit locking on to satellites about 2 years ago. I still have it and a Lakemaster chip, but haven't bothered sending it in yet. Is there anyplace in MSP area to have them fixed or do I have to send it in to Lowrance? Also, those of you who have sent them in for repair, how long did it take to get it back? Thanks.

I have the same problem with my H20C, processor went out. Lowrance says $165 to send it in and repair it. Just have not done it yet.

I really liked it, and will send it in eventually, but I would recommend you purchase a newer model.

I just have not looked into them so I don't have any advise on newer ones.

Good luck.
