2011 Draft

I am excited about this years draft. We have the best pick in our history. We have the chance to do something good with it. What that is going to be? I am not sure, but with some of the rumors floating around, it adds excitement. If none of the trades work out, and they fail to get a good vet in a trade, then we will have to suffer with Williams, or Irving, not a bad consequence wink

Either way, Thursday is coming fast, and the Wolves are going to make a huge step in becoming a contender this year. We have some promising players, now if we had a coach with some enthusiasm to do something with this young team.

I really wish Kahn wasn't running things. Is he gonna fire Rambis or not. A stable coaching situation would help me be more optimistic.

I think we'll get Williams and hopefully trade Beasley.

I wouldn't trade Beasley just yet, inconsistent, yes, but he still young. I won't give up on his on one season with us. Lets wait until next summer to see what other teams offer him first. Williams might not come in day 1 all NBA ready. Also, with Rubio running point, we'll need a lot of guys running the break: Wes, Beasley and Randolph.

Lets hope KAHN don't screw up the #2 pick.

Quote:
The Houston Rockets have reached an agreement on a trade with the Minnesota Timberwolves to acquire guard Jonny Flynn and the rights to No. 20 overall pick Donatas Motiejunas, according to sources with knowledge of the trade.

Sources told ESPN.com that the Rockets will send the rights to Nikola Mirotic, the 23rd pick, and No. 38 in Thursday's draft, along with veteran center Brad Miller and a future first-round pick from the Memphis Grizzlies, to acquire Flynn and Montiejunas.

Flynn was the No. 6 overall pick in the 2009 draft. Miller, a 13-year veteran, averaged 6.4 points and 3.7 rebounds per game with Houston last season.

Kahne has been working it, there is a lot of dealing that happen there. we traded our 20 and Flynn for the 23rd, Brad Miller, the 38th pick, and a future 1st. Then we traded the 23rd to the Bulls for the 28th, and a 2nd rounder(43rd), and something?

If Kahn didn't screw up these drafts he wouldn't have to make so many trades. Flynn was a creator stuck in an offense that wanted him to send it to the high post and run through a set of cuts and screens...not a good fit. He can still be a decent pro.

Gopher fans will recognize the #29 pick...Cory Joseph. Wudduya think of that Devoe? Have fun playing in Oregon while your brother signs for millions.

I guess, the Wolves didnt need more rookies on this team, and if they cant trade them for a good vet, you might as well draft players you can stash in Europe for a couple years.

So, I think this is what we ended up with,

With the 2nd pick, we get D Williams

With the 20th pick we traded and Johnny Flynn and got- Malcolm Lee, two future seconds, and cash, Miller and the 2013 Memphis 1st round pick.

So we got from the draft -Williams, Miller, Lee, 2013 1st rounder from Mem via Houston, 2014 2nd from NJ, 2014 2nd from Miami, and Cash

How does a guy like Glen Taylor succeed so well in business and then hire such inept morons to run his BB team? Kahn is almost criminally stupid.

Sure glad we got a couple of second rounders cuz those are always worth...nothing.

Hey Fat Tire,

Didn't the "stupid" Kahn use two "worthless" 2nd round picks to land Michael Beasley? I wouldn't be surprised if he was under orders from Taylor this year to move down in the draft so we wouldn't have to pay as much for another 1st Round guaranteed contract, the difference between paying the 20th pick and paying the 30th pick is a few hundred thousand per year. Heck, we got the 43rd pick Lee in the Second Round and a lot of people are raving about his defense, which is what we needed anyway and we got him cheap. We don't need more scorers with Love, Beasley, and now Williams anyway.

The T-Wolves now have some great 3 point options with Love, Wes Johnson, Beasley, and now Williams too, all bigger guys that aren't afraid to shoot from outside after the kick out pass from Rubio off his penetration. I might actually go to a couple of games next year.

After a little thought, I actually dont mind this years draft. We didnt need more rookies on our team right now, so if we couldnt get a trade for a veteran, or future picks, get the next best thing, cash. Miller is far from ideal, but he is a big physical body, and can hopefully teach some of the younger guys not to be such pansies under the boards. As for Flynn, we didnt need him any more, he will be a much better player somewhere else, and we got a future 1st rounder for him, nothing wrong with that.

Sure we could have gotten Brooks, or a few other at 20, but we didnt need any more rookie point scorers on the team, or bench, we are stacked to the gills now. I give the Wolves draft a B.

Everyone loves to rip Kahn, but what he has done is make an old bad team into a very young team that is LOADED with talent. A team that is built to win soon. If we find a good coach, I could see a 40 win season in a year.

Kahn is smug for sure, but it's getting harder and harder for me to think he's doing a bad job. When he took over the franchise it was an absolute mess. This is what, his 3rd year, and the Timberwolves actually have a bright future.

While the jury is still out and they haven't set foot on the floor together, the combination of Rubio, Johnson, Williams and Love is the most exciting lineup we've had in quite a long time.

Not to mention we're the youngest team in the league and have enough cap space to be able to lure an All-Star type free agent here if the guys are competent this year.

How he's handled the coaching staff is another matter. But there is at least a murmur about the Twolves in town again, which you haven't been able to say in quite a long time.

I am happy with how the draft went. They took Williams and kept him and added a veteran center, draft picks, cash, and another rookie that will fight to make the team and is guarenteed nothing...oh and some dude from qatar or something like that....I think we acomplished alot in this draft especially when they say it is a weak draft.

Ya we have a lot of available cap space to pay an allstar, but will one actually come here? The way ESPN rips MN teams, I wouldnt want to come here and get ripped on all the time from them. Kahn is a lawyer, and a good one at that. As for a team GM, he has made a lot of improvements to a team that had no future, and turned it into a team that has one of the brightest futures in the league. I cant rip him for that. Lets hope they dont skimp out on the head coach thing and go with an intern. I want Sam Mitchell here, and my second choice is Kelvin Sampson. Either one of these two, and I may just have to invest in a ticket package this year!

sam mitchell would be awesome!

I love the derrick williams pick, ever since i heard he was projected as a lottery pick and I saw him play in the tournament last march. I hoped we'd be able to land him! I'm just nervous that Kahn might trade him for a European player we'll have to wait 2 years to see....I kid wink.

Looking forward to our talented lineup...lets hope we have a season!
