Jim Almquist
Anybody know what these boxes are for ?I told the wife that my guess was to see if there are any Gypsy moths around. They were all north of Hinckley and south of Moose Lake.
reinhard1
they put up some light blue boxes a couple of years agos were we deer hunt north of duluth with a small note saying it was for a moth studie of some kind [cant remember]. there were three of them if i recall right. they were gone by the time firearms season started. dont know if what you saw is the same but it rang a bell. good luck. Archerysniper
I haven't seen the blue ones yet, but they have the purple ones out wich are for the emerald ash borer.
Jim Almquist
They very well could have been purple.
Gordie
My kid said they were kites and I laughed because I saw quite a few of them. I will stop and read the posting by them today when I run to town but I think they are moth and butterfly boxes

Scott K
The ones I seen this weekend were all purple, and were for the ash borers.
Powerstroke
The purple triangle-shaped "kites" are traps for the Emerald Ash Borer. Not sure if that's what you saw on 35, but if people so see the purple ones, that's what they are.
Brad B
Powerstroke is right. I have seen them at all the accesses of the lakes I fish. there should be a sigh posted at the bottom of the tree explaing what they are and they ask people not to mess with them.
